Which, of course, means the flexibility that you have paid for in the ticket is also lost. I have flights confirmed in A to BOM. Presumably if I take those flights then I will be offered some compensation (even though it's an AA ticket?) but if I change to different dates then I lose the compensation.

To my mind this is all "bait and switch".
