Thanks Kiwi Flyer. It seems that JQ flights must have a QF codeshare to be permitted (and the QF codeshare must be the flight booked).

Code:
67N . EXCEPTION 2: QF CODESHARE SERVICES OPERATED BY
68N . JQ/JETSTAR ARE PERMITTED EXCEPT FOR POINT OF SALE
69N . AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
Which routes are you thinking of? Is it possible there is no QF codeshare on the ones in question? Or is this affecting all JQ services? (I'm not familiar enough with which ones have gone from QF to JQ, so I'm not sure what to look up, say in the OW PDF timetable). Some examples to help me would be good .

If QF use a certain range of flight #'s for JQ codeshares it should be easy to determine. I haven't been able to find their flight ranges however.

AFAIK all JQ flights have a QF codeshare (the QF flight number is used for QFF awards for example).

Not sure the new international ones have codeshare flights though.

ex-MRU bug

Have just put the following into the validator:

MRU-LHR-EZE,GRU-LIM,SCL-LAX,YVR-JFK,EWR-PTY,DFW-ANC-ORD-NRT-HKG-DPS,HKG-AKL,CHC-SYD-PER,BME-SYD-LHR-DXB-LHR-MRU

To the best of my knowledge it's a valid routing, however i'm getting an error message stating:

Rule violated!!!! [LHR-MRU] Max 1 segment(s): Ghana/Nigeria transit

I didn't realise i'd transitted Ghana/Nigeria... is this just a bug with the validator? Or am I actually breaking the rules...

You have an invalid second entry in Europe.

Code:
128N . * 2 PERMITTED IN EUROPE WHEN 1 IS A TRANSIT
129N . WITHOUT STOPOVER BETWEEN
130N . GHANA/NIGERIA/KENYA/UGANDA/TANZANIA AND
131N . ANOTHER
132N . CONTINENT.

Bugger. Forgot about that, if I were to do the LHR-DXB-LHR legs at the beginning of the trip and then do the SYD-LHR-MRU with <24hrs in LHR would the routing be valid?

Or, can you end an ex-MRU OWE in any African country?

Nope.

You can end it anywhere in Africa, but you cannot enter/stop/touch Europe twice, unless as a transit to one of the mentioned countries.

I think you could do MRU-LHR-xxx-LHR-NBO now, but not sure if the validator has been fixed with tz/ke as allowable countries.

Is anyone here able to confirm whether that would be valid or not? I assume that the final LHR-NBO flight if valid would only be so if the transit through LHR was <24hrs?

MRU is a strange old starting point, pricewise it's very attractive but even with the new JNB-MRU flights it's still a nightmare to get to or from, the only option you have is to go to LHR, or JNB!

The only other option I guess would be to end with SYD-JNB-MRU but in the spirit of FT that'd be 160 tier points & 8764 base miles compared to the 340 tier points and circa 15200 base miles that SYD-LHR-DAR/NBO would return.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not a miles/status addict, but going via LHR and being able to drop my stuff at home, then travel light to Africa for a few days would be wonderful.

Yes, valid, and yes, transit only, both answers covered by the rule quoted on post #66.

While I wouldn't suggest changing the validator to accommodate it, I can confirm that MRU-LHR-...-LHR-MRU (with one as a transit) was being accepted and ticketed last month by BA. I don't know whether it has changed, or will be changed, once MRU-JNB is operational.
