RTQ Validator URL not working - anyone else able to use it?

Hi,

The URL for the OW RTW Validator is not working. I get an error that the page cannot be found. Is anyone else able to get it to come up?

Thanks.

Yes.. the validator is down, the hosted server and the backup server both crashed the other night.. ugh, so it may take some time to get back up and working. As such, I've lost the past few changes I made to it. :(

Someone may well have the files on their machine ... I tried a "work offline" and then went to the URL but it was gone.

I did find a cached version 1.1 from the end of February on Google, maybe the component .js files are there too...don't know if that helps.

The Validator URL is still down - and that work around line didn't seem to work for me. Anyone have a version up anywhere else, even if not the most recent version?

I have the 0.8 version (dated around May 2005) and may be able to get the 0.9 version. However I don't want to publish the URL unless hauteboy is OK about it (I've PM'd him).

Archive copies of the 0.8 & 0.9 versions of the OWE validator can be found here: http://slfft.allhyper.com/. Please note that these versions are approximately one year old, so therefore routes and rules may not be absolutely correct.

Further along in this thread (post 17) there are details of a 0.95 version where some of the discrepancies have been addressed (e.g. DFW-ANC is now considered valid).

Also note that if/when the real version of this tool re-appears, I will remove this site to avoid confusion.

Thanks for this - as you say, quite a few rules have changed, but for a basic itinerary like I am working on, your copy works just fine.

Thanks SLF. Was going a bit crazy trying to do this all manually.

Thanx SLF; much appreciated....

I've found the 0.9 version now too.

Both accessible at: http://slfft.allhyper.com/

Until hauteboy's great tool is back online, if you are stuck with a flight you -know- exists, but the validator rejects it, here's a workaround.

Say you want to check a RTW that includes DFW-ANC. Now, because DFW-ANC is a seasonal flight, and the tool is currently "stuck" at a time of the year when that flight was not available, you too are stuck, until the tool is finally updated. You can substitute DFW-ANC with a dummy segment, but that is not very satisfactory.

So, here's what you do, with apologies to the software author for taking the liberty of semi-hacking his work:

0. Make a backup copy of flights.js
1. Open flights.js with a text editor (Notepad will do).
2. Find a really weird city pair, one you know you will never ever use.
3. *Carefully* replace the original city pair with the new city pair.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each new flight you want to introduce.

Save the file and run the tool. Presto! you have now *created* new flights and can go on using the tool.

Thanks for the hosting SLF! I still haven't had a chance to get this working again, and I will need a new host site (hopefully one that has a backup!)

No worries on modifying the flights.js; I autogenerated this from the PDF schedules and sometimes forget to put in some of the seasonal flights.

The javascript files are pretty easy to modify to add new rules/fares/etc.
