post your rtw trip routing here

Getting inspiration from this forum is really great. And the willingness to help others is fantastic.

Here is a small idea. Could we make this thread a place for people to post their finalized or finished oneworld rtw routings. This would give easy access to even more inspiration for us that are planning a oneworld rtw trip.

Happy to get things started, my recentish not so optimised LONE5 was:

BNE-SIN(QF)
SIN-HKG(CX)
HKG-NRT(CX)
NRT-HKGx-BKK(CX)
BKK-LHR(QF)x-CDG(BA)
ORY-BCN(IB)
BCN-MAD(IB)x-SCLx-IPC(LA)
IPC-SCLx-GRU(LA)
GRU-EZE(BA)x-MEX(LA)
MEX-DFWx-LAX(AA)x-SYD(QF)
SYD-AYQ(QF)
DRW-SYD(QF)

In what was a pretty decent strike rate for upgrades for a OW Saphire (QF Gold) I got op-up's to business on the BNE-SIN, SCL-IPC, GRU-EZE and SYD-AYQ legs, plus an upgrade with UC's on the BKK-LHR leg and the joys of a BC seat on LAX-SYD (a 3 class flight sold as 2 class - via AKL, but one flight number). Hopefully the next one will prove as fruitful!

My AONE4 was booked ex-GIB

GIB - LGW (back to London)
LHR-DXB-LHR (MR to Dubai and back on BA)
LHR-JFK-MIA-GUA-MIA-LAX (USA, BA trans-Atlantic and AA internal)
LAX-HKG-MNL-HKG-BKK-HKG (Asia, on CX)
HKG-JNB//VFA-JNB-NBO-SEZ-NBO (Africa, CX to JNB then BA internal)
NBO-LHR/LGW -GIB (The End).

38,000 miles, 18 segs (could have had 2 more segs in N America).

CAi-lon-lax-hnl (mistake as had to then fly CRAAAAPP Biz QF on ropey old plane) -syd/bne-cns-syd-chc-syd-sin/bkk-cmb-hkg-nrt-hkg-lon-ibz-lon-dxb

done on AONE4, should have done more in the US

Note- BA loyal maybe you should edit the stops per cont line - the stopover police may get upset about you quote "blabbing"

Route posting

I guess it would be useful for the rest of us to know what FF clubs you were all members of and which sectors were put against each (and why). The class of travel that you were meant to get and what you actually got (booked or op-downed in my case). Stuff like total taxes, miles and status points for the more mathematically minded.

The reason for this is it helps us to help others. I admit to missing the introduction of the 2000+ mile AKL to ADL recently and that would be a help to the BA EC holders. For the QFs, then the keys are the 2701 and 5001 milers.

In addition, there are other sectors of interest. These may be those such as the BA widebody shuttles, which on a BA card, appear to earn the same as a full long haul segment. As proof of the pudding, I am going to try a $500 First return on BA to see what happens.

There are the strange rules for the route allowances that would help. For example, the double London transit for Nigeria/Ghana is very little use to anyone as there are no other 1W ways in or out. The South America out via North America and the Asia transit rules are much more important. Would your route have used this allowance or not. Did you try but were not allowed.

Seasonality of a route would help other people's plans (the relatively famous Anchorage on AA) as would any Class restrictions (such as an economy only flight but you wanted to go anyway...).

Perhaps the circles should be included as well? Reasons for going somewhere (mileage, status, fast connection, shear hell of it...)

My current AONE3 ex CAI

CAI-LHR (BD LHR-MAN-LHR)
LHR-LAX-LAS-DFW-LAS (BD LAS-ORD-MAN-ORD-SFO-LAS)
LAS-ORD-LAX-JFK-HKG-SIN-
HKG-NRT
NRT-HKG-LHR (BD LHR-MAN-LHR) <Currently in MAN>
IST-LHR-CAI

Final leg will now be MAN-CDG-CAI, as I simply don't have the time to spend a night in IST just for the miles (Hangs head in shame )

BA F for CAI-LHR-CAI and LHR-LAX
AA F for all US flights
CX F for the rest, though had to take J on SIN-HKG-NRT due to removal of F from my flights & unable to change itn to a F equipped flight.

All points/miles have gone into BA - keeping my Gold Card.

For my next RTW it looks like I'll be heading to *A for better Indian opportunities.

I am in NYC and this is my DONE3 which I start
in NRT so I could throw in 3 round trips out of NYC
at the end of the RTW. All trips are for business.

JFK-NRT (Seperately purchased)

NRT-HKG
HKG-FCO
FCO-(LHR)-BRU
BRU-JFK This finishes the real RTW

JFK-YVR-(DFW)-JFK To YVR on CX, must connect on return
because of 1 transcon limit
JFK-BGI-JFK (BGI = Barbados)
JFK-BOS-JFK ($100 for the 7th segment, worth it becuase
same day returns to BOS can cost $450.)

JFK-HKG-NRT Not sure if I will use them, but that way I'll
have tickets to either HKG or NRT, the most likely
places I'd have to end up in Asia in the next year.

AONE6 ex-CAI, finished in May this year
All flights were credited as First unless otherwise noted

CAI-LHR (BA 744)
LHR-PHX (BA but ended up being LHR-ORD-AUS (AA 777/M80), got rerouted due to BA sickout)
DFW-ANC (AA 757)
ANC-DFW (AA 757)
JFK-SCL (LA 763)
SCL-LAX (LA 340)
LAX-JFK (QF 744)
JFK-SYD (QF 744)
SYD-CNS (QF 737 biz) - was supposed to be a 744 but QF108 arrived late!
CNS-SYD (QF 744 biz on 3-class)
SYD-HBA (QF 717 econ) - ugh, wasted segment but plans changed at last minute
SYD-SIN (QF 744)
SIN-CMB (CX 330 biz)
CMB-HKG (CX 330 biz)
HKG-NRT (CX 744)
NRT-HKG (CX 744)
HKG-LHR (CX 744)
LHR-ACC (BA 767)
ACC-LHR (BA 767)
LHR-DXB (BA 777) - was supposed to be a 744 but they switched planes

I credited all my flights to my Qantas account (except LHR-ORD-AUS went to my AA account)- for building up lifetime SC's.

Earned enough SC's to (almost) qualify for two years of QF Plat (my QF year reset between the SYD-HBA and SYD-SIN legs). I'm only 40 SC's short for requalifying this year.

Current RTW AONE4 ex-BKK (all towards BA FF)

BKK-HKG (CX F only flight of the day)
HKG-SIN (CX F, long way around via BKK since I was in no hurry)
SIN-MEL (BA)
MEL-SYD (QF)
SYD-LAX (QF)
(found a cheap LAX-DFW fare so didn't want to use up a RTW segment)
DFW-YVR (AA)
YVR-DFW (AA)
DFW-SJU (AA)
SJU-DFW (AA)
DFW-MIA (AA)
PBI-DFW (AA)
DFW-LGW (BA)
LHR-DXB (BA)
DXB-LHR (BA)
LHR-VCE (BA)
VCE-LHR (BA)
LHR-HKG-BKK (BA/CX) (only connection)

Not the most efficient use of the ticket. Could have added at least one transcon flight each in the US and Australia.

Bagold - I have similar routing in Europe - how are you handling LHR-VCE-LHR since there is no VCE service from LHR - only from LGW?
