I'm thinking of booking an (economy) oneworld explorer ticket, with the first leg LHR-CPT. If I take the optional paid upgrade to premium economy (BA WTP), what fare bucket does it book in to, and can that be upgraded with miles to Club World?

I also have some AA miles; I know the fare rules imply that you can't mix economy and business segments, but is there anything to stop me upgrading the AA legs with eVIPs or miles?

Many thanks in advance!

See rule 5(b) here
BA WTP plus books into 'T'. I don't know the BA rules regarding a futher upgrade to Club World using miles. I expect other FTers will know the answer.

No problem at all with upgrading AA legs (on AA metal that is) with AA eVIPS or miles or indeed with 500-mile stickers, which is what I recently did for my BGI-BOS on my LONE4.
- Mmm, following Bukhara's comment ("Even assuming you met the various criteria for BA's MFU scheme (ie, purchased directly from BA etc)") in the next post - I'm now unsure if the ticket has to be issued by AA in order to upgrade AA sectors (my ticket was issued by AA). Anyone know for sure?

Global Explorer Ex. UK

Can I purchase a RTW Global Explorer ticket starting in the UK, I am based in the USA. What price do I pay?...the UK or (tehe) the US one? As the exchange rate is in favour of the dollar at the moment can I pay it with US credit card? Please need help.

If you look under section 15 of the Global Explorer rule sheet (available on www.oneworld.com) you will see the the "Canadian" and "European (ECAA)" exceptions apply.

So you would pay the cost relating to the country of origin ... in your case, the UK.

Thanks for the info everyone.

My question is, if you buy a ticket starting somewhere other than your home country, can you elect to not take the last segment to remain in your home town? Eg I'm from BNE, if I start my LONE4 in AKL, is it possible to finish up in BNE or must you keep going to AKL?

serfty Feb 9, 2009 5:22 pm

Starting in AKL, you must book to finish in NZ.

Whether you take that segment or not is up to you. Note that if you do not, you could be charged the full cost of the routing you travelled (which would be invariably a lot more than the original cost of your xONEx). I have come across no reports of this actually happening however.

YMMV.

Just a note for the people who still find them useful, I have moved the hosting of the OW Rules as issued by CX in HKG to a new location here. This are the 14 November 2008 files. I think there may have been some minor changes since then, but regrettably, I am currently without cxagents.com access to confirm this. I'm working on getting it back.

Categorically - yes. It must be ticketed by AA. I have had success in the past of having AA reticket on their stock after commencing an itinerary ticketd by QF but it was a pain. Although worth it to be able to use EVIP's. I learnt the error of my ways and now ticket all such itins on AA stock.

Greetings Everyone,
Im planning to buy a circle trip explorer ticket(Business) from Bombay on Cx. Is there anyway I can check the validity of my route. Or if there are specific site where I can input all the info. My other question is weather Dubai comes under Europe or Africa? apparently you need to book 3 continents
All your valuable replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Dubai is (Europe&MiddleEast) not Africa.

I don't know of any way to check the route of a CT ticket except to throw it out to the assembled wisdom here.

Is Easter Island SWP or SA for the purposes of xONEx.

If SWP, doesn't that make it impossible to visit Easter Island on an xONEx, now that QF no longer offers service AKL-PPT (except as codeshare)? Is visiting PPT also now impossible?

South America, visited all the time in xONExs.

Easter Island in South America - no problem on xONEx
Tahiti in SWP - problem for xONEx as only OW flight is PPT-SCL

YMMV.

Is this specifically stated anywhere in the rules?

Most could use a one-time credit card number or just a credit card that will get useless after the trip...

My real concern is losing the FFP...
