Sorry we keep replying over each other. I looked at your link, and their schedule changes by the time I'm flying (October) to daily sky suites from DFW. This is the product I originally saw in pictures and assumed was better than AAs, so I guess I'm back to trying to get on JL now. :)

I appreciate the help.

So I'm confused. JL's Sky Suite is only present on some 787s? It's 2-2-2 but with all aisle access, correct? The seatmaps on EF all show the same map for Fri/Sat/Sun for JL11, so I'm not sure how to tell the difference.

All the 787-9s have Sky Suites, shown on JAL timetables as 'SS9'.
The oldest 787-8s have the old angled flat Neo Shell seats.
The newer 787-8s have Sky Suites, shown on the timetables as 'SS8'.
All 3 configs have 2-2-2 in Business, but the sky suites have the seats offset so all seats have aisle access.

There is a new xONEx rule sheet date 1 AUG posted on the oneworld website.
https://www.oneworld.com/documents/1...9-d346ec820edf

Only change I've noticed is adding AA Premium Economy fare code.
Any thing else?

Thanks for letting us know Himeno
I have spotted a significant change, which I have posted in the relevant thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28695746-post461.html

One of my flights on my ticket has been cancelled. They have moved the flight 5 minutes later and it has the same flight number. Im putting the 'cancellation' down to moving me from premium economy to economy (guess they aren't running that cabin on it any more, its a LATAM flight)

It wants me to accept the change but I cant do it online. Do I just call BA CS (who I paid the ticket too)

Call BA yes. But also, find out whether the W cabin still exists, sometimes BA's IT is not the best. The cabin may be there or it may now be a J cabin.

Ok this might be wrong thread but this question is about RTW ticket, Visa, skipping the last leg and CX so there are many forums where I could put this and I have to choose one:)

I`am in the middle of the RTW trip (EX-MPM) and now in HKG. I have to end this trip to Africa so my last flights are in couple of days HKG-MAD-SSG (CX-IB). My plan is to skip MAD-SSG leg but here`s the questions:

1.) I have 9h lay-over in MAD so can I just tell HKG check-in agent that I have been travelling so much (what is true) that I have so many gifts (what is true) to my friends and I want to get rid of those presents in MAD so I would like to short check-in my bags only to MAD.

2.) Can check-in agent see that I don`t have Visa to SSG and can they ask to see my Visa in the check-in counter and can that become problem?

3.) If they can see it from computer somehow or ask to see it can I say:

A) I will get Visa when I am in Madrid. (Sunday so don`t know if they believe this).

B) Tell them that I don`t need visa because I will re-route myself in MAD to CPT and with my passport I don`t need visa to CPT (true). And this is flexible ticket so rules allows it (not sure if they allows it in the middle of the transfer when I can`t make stop-over anymore..)

C) say that i have 2 passports (not true) and I have visa in another one. I travel so much that i have to have 2 passports because another one is alway in embassy to waiting some visa and my another passport is in my parents summer house in Madrid.

4.) Can they see that I already have ticket with another OW carrier out from MAD for the next day (I have..) and ask how I can continue to SSG if I have ticket out of MAD for the next day.

5.) they don`t ask visa but wont let me short check-in my bags so I just go to the counter in MAD after first leg and say them that I don`t fly the last segment so they wont put my bags forward. What happens?

6.) Am I thinking too much :D

Thank you!

You can request your bags in MAD, yes. I would expect CX to short check them if you ask.

Yes, of course. Visa checking is part of their job. Expect to show evidence that you will be admitted to EG.

Keep your lies to a minimum. The carrier may not want to get involved in "if I get a visa" stories.

Great, maybe the CX agent will help you do your change there and then.

The carrier can refuse to transport you to MAD if they think you won't be admitted to Spain. So I assume your "real" passport is good for this.

They won't see this unless they look carefully and the other airline also uses Amadeus. Either way, who cares. Lots of people have lots of tickets.

A lot of grumbling but you'll get your bags (eventually, may take a couple of hours). Narrow possibility that they get sent to SSG anyway.

Since date and time changes are free, see if you can change the MAD-SSG flight to be as late as possible (e.g., one year after your first flight). That will avoid all problems with short-checking bags, visa checks, etc.

Thank you anabolism and Calchas for your replys.

I cant make any more stop-over in europe. Another problem is that this is booked through S7 that uses different system than Amadeus so I have not had luck making changes to this trip with any carrier who uses Amadeus. Luckily S7 have been amazing with the changes but cant make this to stop-over cause I cant back-track to europe.

What would you do in my situation to get in the plane in HKG without visa to SSG?

Thank you!

Calchas Aug 18, 2017 12:41 pm

No way to change MAD-SSG to an open sector is there? :) (Probably not)

If you have a passport that will get you into Spain, then you are probably fine. Use your second passport pretension if you have to. Try to get your bags short checked to MAD.

If you have a passport that doesn't guarantee entry into Spain, it may be more difficult. You might be better off being honest and saying you're dropping the sector but you have an alternative onward flight.

Not sure I want to give any firm advice. :)

  • You could show up in HKG and hope for the best
  • You could get a visa
  • You could pay the re-route fee and change MAD-SSG to MAD-JNB (assuming you don't need a visa for South Africa). IB has a flight Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays. Or anywhere else in Africa with a direct flight from MAD where you don't need a visa (IB flies to CAS, DKR, etc.)

How much is a visa and how much hassle is it to get? If it was me, I wouldn't want to risk being denied boarding in HKG.

Leo123 Aug 18, 2017 7:36 pm

Thank you again for your help!

I have no problem entering Spain with my passport and don`t need visa to get there. Does HKG agent only check that I`am ok to go to Spain or already SSG?

I can`t get visa to SSG because process is so long that I don`t have time (my flight leaves today and I`am heading to the airport in 9h and just realised couple days ago that my flight is all the way to the SSG and not only in Spain)

I don`t want to drive my self in the dead end with my stories in the counter so I have to have clear strategy:)

Dear FT gods, with these informations that you have (no time to get Visa and my passport have access to enter Spain) what would be the best:

1.) Ask if they can short check in my bags to Spain because there are stuff that we need.

-Then they ask to see visa and:
A) I say I will push the MAD-SSG flight when I get to Spain and I have another flight out of Spain.
B) It is in my another passport that is in Spain.

Or another way:

2.) Just go to the counter (emerald counter if that maters) and explaining straight away that need short check in because I will re-route myself in Spain and thats why I took 10h transfer time and I have ticket rules printed with me and can show that these are totally flexible tickets.

What are the odds that they ask SSG Visa here in HKG?

If it was me, I'd try this. Or re-route MAD-JNB or somewhere else in Africa where I don't need a visa.

Leo123 Aug 20, 2017 7:20 am

I went to the HK city center emerald/first check-in counter (where the airport express train is) and had zero problems. Got baggage checked only to MAD and no questions about SSG visa. Thank you once again for your help!
