Ahh, have looked back over it and I think I see where I messed up there, I had 5 segments in Europe/ME, but the max for a DONE fare is 4.

What screwed me is the weird rule that you can't have a QR flight as the first segment, as I had 4 total segments in Europe/ME but was going to go from OSL-DOH to start, but because I couldn't use the direct QR flight it had put me onto a connecting route via LHR (which I had missed), and so meant I had 5 total flights in that region

It's not a rule. QR can be your first segment.

Just ticketed a DONE3 w/AA. Would be great if there was a separate thread with just pricing data points, but I'm afraid it would be overrun with unnecessary arbitrary comments. So, here we are.
(Marketing)/(Operating)
JL/JL HND-ORD
AA/AA ORD-YUL
AA/AA YUL-ORD
AA/AA ORD-SNA
AA/AA SNA-ORD
AA/IB ORD-MAD
AY/AY DUB-HEL-SIN
CX/CX SIN-HKG-TPE
JL/JL TPE-NRT

$5379 base + $846 taxes/fees + $41 carrier imposed fees = $6266

Oh really? When using the website to build an itinerary it won't show the QR flight when it's the first flight of the trip, but will show the same flight if there are flights before it, and after looking it up it seemed like that was a rule. Is that just another limitation of the website then?

I posted exactly the same thing about having a thread for actual booking details in June in this thread. Was told to edit the WIKI which it turns out that I can't edit. A thread with just actual booking examples would help many especially first time bookers and those who are just looking for general ideas.

I use a word doc to copy interesting routes to; will be adding yours. Thanks.

Well, not to get lost in semantics but the website tool won't let you do QR as the first segment. However, that's a flaw and not an actual rule of the fare product.
So yes, a limitation... one of many, many, many limitations.

Exactly. There are numerous reasons not to use the online tool, zaphod424 , -- you've hit on one of them. The AI tool, if it's still around, isn't any better, with problems/errors of its own.

Does married segment rules apply if a portion of a DONE3 has QR OSL-DOH-LHR (7 hour transit in DOH)? EF is showing D0 while searching EF by segment show D4. No desire to enter Qatar anymore, just a nTP run on BA.

Even though it's a quite unorthodox routing, QR definitely enforces married segments. I completely understand not wanting to enter Qatar on a mileage run, I don't like not being able to have any duty free alcohol with me. If they had some solution for that then I'd be a lot more keen to do over 24 hour stopovers. I've heard that customs 'might' hold it for you and let you retrieve it on departure but doesn't sound guaranteed.

Asked a TA for this below itinerary and it is quoting as the DGLOB34 instead of the lower DONE3

BA OSL-LHR
BA LHR-IST (stopover)
QR IST-DOH

QR DOH-BKK (stopover)

CX BKK-HKG (stopover)

CX HKG-SFO

AA SFO-MIA
AA MIA-PTY (stopover)
AA PTY-MIA
AA MIA-AUS (stopover)
AA AUS-CUN (stopover)
AA CUN-ORD (stopover)

AY ORD-HEL (stopover)

AY HEL-OSL

I see it as DONE3 compliant
- 3 continents /
- max 2 stopovers in Europe /
- 4 flights in Europe,
- 1 in Asia
- 6 in N America
- 3 intercontinental flights

I must be missing something, but can't figure it out, unless autopricing goes to DGLOB34 automatically when an itinerary is under 34K miles.

Is there an explanation, and any workaround possible?

If they are on sabre, this is just how it happens, and there is no way (that I know of) to force it to a xONEx. So you need to manually ticket, and if they are worried about an ADM they need to call the airline for approval. Also they almost certainly need to ticket on Finnair stock otherwise there will be issues with the GDS and trying to sort out any changes.
Best workaround is find an agent who uses amadeus.

Would this problem "disappear" if I were to add flights and change to longer flights such that I went over 34K miles?

Maybe, but sabre seems full of problems for these bookings. I found QR seems to muck it up too. Good chance of it not auto-pricing anything if you change enough. It's great...

Proposal 1: British Airways (BA) Qatar Airways (QR) Cathay Pacific (CX) American Airlines (AA) Finnair (AY)
Just priced it in Amadeus as DONE3. Plating carier QR €5140.50.

Must be autoprice issue SABRE?

Confirm that QR definitely enforces married segments so what you see in EF will match booking. I've not found that I need to really stopover for over 24 hours however, but often need to get the next flight resulting in a ~9 hours long transit rather than ~2 hours to get multiple D class seats. They won't short check your bags either so be aware of that if you need something, keep it in your hand luggage.
