A bit OT, do we need a sticky for actual bookings and cost? Maybe following some format that includes dates, how booked, and airlines? The information here that includes the ins and outs of how to book seems to obscure actual examples of bookings.
Actual examples really do help newbies and everyone else. There can be major differences between actual prices paid based on the plating airline even on the same itinerary and same departure point. So I think that's a relevant factor that would be helpful since the OW tool now defaults most of their ticketing to QF... who aside from all the other issues well noted in this forum, also applies YQ / YR very differently based on origination and to some degree airlines flown. Just from what I've seen they seem to really take people to the cleaners for ex-OSL but are quite light for ex-Japan, but have seen some other ex-OSL that wasn't QF plated for much more reasonable prices. |

In my opinion are already far too many sticky Oneworld RTW threads. All of these threads have posts that are off topic and would be better is one of the other threads
I believe the moderators are still doing this round up on a regular basis. |
So these exclude taxes and fees?
Booking a exJP DONE3 now, my last one booked in 2023 was also exJP DONE3 and similar destinations and currency level but I am seeing very big differences in real pricing, enough that I am questioning whether or not it is structural ie oneworld has changed something or not. just for reference what ive seen 2023 DONE3 booked: 5.4k usd current DONE3 pricing: TOK-HKG-BCN-(LHR transit)-IST-(LHR)-MEX-DFW-ORD-LAX-NYC-TOK: 6.85k interestingly debating dropping the IST leg (and flying it separate from the RTW fare) and seeing - with BCN-(MIA)-MEX on AA metal: 6.3k - with BCN-(MAD)-MEX on Iberia: 7.2k! so 900+ usd just to transit through madrid! unfortunately my schedule is tight so I am probably going to go with my current route through LHR as the timings work |
there was a base fare increase for ex-JPN xONEx fares

checked several ticketing dates to fin out that DONE fares are still the same, at least if priced in JPY (or NOK for that matter). Maybe it's just the TACO dollar weakening not official fare increases.
|
I believe the fare increases took place August 2024.
DONE3 was 4400 ex jpn back then. |
How to get this done?

A wiki at the top of the thread for real prices paid might actually be more appropriate. Just a listing of ex-Where, DONE3/4/5/6 (Or AONEx for the big spenders), Total price after YQ/YR and taxes / fees, Route including airline code used, Plating Airline.

Here is my last booking that I could add to and maybe start a new thread: Booked Nov 11 2024 , Start date Mar 17 2025 Booked with AA RTW desk OSL x HEL DFW ANC DFW YUL DFW PBI DFW ICN x HKD MNL x DOH ATH MAD OSL with dummy dates. Cost was $4787 + fees of approx $720 so $5517 each. DONE3. Posts of just examples would be helpful then other threads could be used to ask questions. Right now finding actual good routes is hard. I know I saw a route that optimized QR booking but I can't find it now. Anyone care to post it? |
I have modified the wiki to include a link to Hennebou 's post from last December 2024.
@MODS - If this is not OK, please remove |
About to book a DONE4 ex HND for next April that includes two sectors MAD-TLV-MAD ….these sectors are only flown by Iberia Express who are currently not flying to TelAviv…I can currently book these sectors so what is the situation if at the time of travel or before Iberia cancel these flights ? Is Iberia required (compelled ) to find an alternative to travel to TelAviv in this case being El-Al or will these sectors be cancelled and I’m on my own to find my way to Israel ? Many thanks in advance

@MODS - If this is not OK, please remove Would it be workable to append dvs7310's first paragraph (or a variation) to Hennebou's post in the wiki, establishing a model. Something like [QUOTE=dvs7310] Just a listing of ex-Where, DONE3/4/5/6 (Or AONEx for the big spenders), Total price after YQ/YR and taxes / fees, Route including airline code used, Plating Airline. Then flyhurl's experience could follow in the wiki along with others. While Hennebou's post is very valuable as a starting point, I find real examples like flyhurl's very helpful also as they provide a sense of effects on price other than point of origin, and these effects are not trivial.. |
