I don't have the edit, lock or hide buttons - just the print icon. Thanks for the help.

I had believed the criteria to enable editing was a member had to have had at least 90 days and 90 posts since joining - but on that basis you be qualified.

QR-marketed JFK–DOH possible on DONE3 held by AA?

I’m working on booking a DONE3 (HND–DFW–DTW–ORD–SFO–JFK–DOH–TBS–DOH–MUC–DOH–BKK–H ND). I’ve used the AA RTW desk a few times and they’ve always been great.

I’ve been a JAL Mileage Bank member in the past, but for this itinerary it just doesn’t make sense — JL is extremely stingy with tier points, and this routing doesn’t even get me to the lowest OWS tier. QR looks like a much better option, both in terms of mileage earnings and actually reaching Silver or Gold status. One snag: on the held itinerary, AA has the JFK–DOH leg under the AA codeshare, but ExpertFlyer shows D-class availability on the QR-marketed flight. Does anyone know if AA will let that segment be issued under the QR code instead, or do they insist on using the AA code when it’s available?

Also curious — does anyone have experience getting QR agents to issue a DONE3, or is the AA RTW desk still the best bet for this?

Thanks in advance (and naturally if this is not the best thread to be posting this in, would appreciate any pointers!)

Is that your only AA coded intercontinental segment? If you want a QR code on that one, you'd need an AA code on HND-DFW.

Having said that, AA codes earn more in QRPC than QR codes. It doesn't look like you need it for the required QR segments, so I'd leave it as an AA code and also have an AA code on HND-DFW (AA codes earn more than JL codes).

True, but aren't some benefits at HIA dependent on having a QR marketed flight, same as some require that your ticket be issued on 157 stock?

It's a little strange, they gave me AA codes on HND–DFW–DTW–ORD–SFO–JFK–DOH; then QR on DOH–TBS–DOH–MUC–DOH–BKK; then AA on BKK-HND. Mostly my concern was that 20% of the QPoints seem to need to come from QR-marketed-and-operated flights... but now I see that just the QR-coded parts should be more than enough to hit this, so I guess I'm good leaving all those other segments on AA. Thanks!

Good point... I'm only using DOH for transit, and all the flights departing DOH are all QR-marketed-and-operated and business class, so I think I get the only benefit I care about (the business class lounge) either way. If I'm wrong about that please let me know though!

For QRPC, it's either 20% on QR coded AND operated flights or 4 segments, so you're good there, you have 5 segments. You're also way ahead by having all of those AA coded flights rather than JL or QR codes. You'll earn quite a bit more that way, so sounds like you have a solid ticket for QR earning.

Just contacted AA RTW to change a segment and include WY (Oman Air) in the itinerary.

Lady was reluctant at first, wasn't aware of WY having joined OW but got it all sorted eventually. So far no change fee applied either.

Separate PNR issued, for the moment WY is allowing 6 letters only.

First experience positive for what it's worth

Generally when you book, pay and have the e-ticket for a OW RTW all the rules and base cost are locked in. The rules include the routing rules and allowable airlines. The rules at the time you booked apply for all changes.

You were lucky to get the change "Lady was reluctant at first"

Another cautionary tale regarding booking directly through the OW RTW tool... My first booking was ticketed by Qantas (despite having no QF legs in there, and not even going near Australia). Now I'm a victim of their data breach, and their call centers are totally flooded following the incident. It's now an estimated 3 hour hold time.

I'm trying to reach out by email to their Europe based local desks in the hope they can make date changes for me.

Wish I'd read this thread's advice before booking that first time. Sigh.
