I've searched several random dates CAI-DOH and only F seats, not A, seem to be available. Perhaps QR is onto it.

CAI-DOH rarely has A seats in general - even before this currency devaluation.

For your new Explorer, are you looking at CAI-DOH? If so, are you therefore flying that leg in economy?

As mentioned in the post above I'm planning to do a *A RTW after this one, so no need for DOH

How close to lifetime status with other ffp's (other than AA)?
QF are going to change the ffp in a few weeks.
Those airlines that are revenue based can-do have specific rules for earning on these multi segment tickets. Check carefully.
Having many ffp's in the same alliance can be poor value in the mid-long term.
Not close to lifetime on any other. I do have AA (6), BA (1), QF (3), QR (2) CX (2) metal flights. No AS metal. Ok so I see the AA program is earning solely on $ spend now? That makes it unattractive I would guess and maybe I am giving up on earning AAdvantage miles and just be happy that the Life Plat gets me ongoing lounge access etc when flying future OW Y. Mmm so are there any fastracks with the others that I could make or get close to?

Weighing the value of booking an ex-CAI DONEx right now vs. the pain of having to deal with QF when I want to make schedule changes...

I just date changed my remaining 10 segments, and it took all of 20 minutes. Maybe I got lucky, but wasn't bad at all.

Just remember if you change before the departure of the first segment it triggers a re-price which may or may not work in your favour.

Does a reprice (to the base fare) occur if ticketed points change but the first coupon remains unchanged?

I tried using the oneworld tool to set up a QF ticketed DONE5 but the system keeps on trying to force it to a DGLOB fare and telling me the miles are over even though the segments are only 15 and everything else seems in order. Is there some way to stop this happening or something I am doing wrong. Are you using the new beta tool or the old to arrange these?:

I've never gotten anything with RJ out of CAI to move to ticketing...that may be your issue.

Maybe they are onto it as have tried via CMN with AT and MAD with IB and nothing will price
