Despite the policy some travellers have succeeded in having bags interlined. But do not rely on baggage being interlined

On 1 PNR bags should be through checked

Hello, I need some help on CX and AA. My wife and infant is flying KTM-ORD on CX J and than AA economy from ORD to ATL on a different pnr bought using avios. Would it be possible for CX to tag bags all the way to ATL? I know she needs to collect bags in ORD and recheck them. Please advice. Thanks.

CX policy is to through check bags on separate itineraries when asked.
But as they will need USA customs clearance/inspection will it make any difference?
Or are you trying to avoid AA baggage fees?

If I don't have oneworld status and I fly from HKG-LHR in CX First (award) and then LHR-KEF in BA Economy (cash, non-basic), I understand that CX will interline the the luggage but will I be able to check in a second piece without penalty due to the second leg only including one? I assume yes, but not with confidence as these are separate tickets.

In theory, no, in practice, at the CX F counter, I suspect they might look the other way

From the link in wiki LA will not interline on separate tickets.
Anyway for USA (most airports) you have to process USA immigration & customs will all your checked & carry-on bags even if interlined.
How will you get a boarding pass/document check for BA?

This can be done at check in, or if not going via check in at the lounges, or there is a service desk in T7 near gate 6, or failing all of that at the gate. Usually those with outstanding document checks are called to the service desk before boarding. The lack of a document check should not prevent the bp being issued.

The LA flight arrives around 0930 - the OP has got quiet a wait before the BA flight as the first departure to LHR isn't until 1830!

BA Deceptive Business Practices.... FLYERS BEWARE!!!

I have a British Airways credit from an unused flight last Summer that I just found out is worthless because the restrictions they apply to it. None of those restrictions were explained to me when I was sold on this credit instead of a partial refund. Don't make the same mistake I made. BA credits are totally worthless!
I will now only fly Florida-London on Norwegian. BA used to be a great company, they have lost their way slowly over time.... now they've lost my trust forever.

While this is a thread about checking in bags on separate tickets, dare we ask if you thought to ask what limitations there were at the time you accepted the 'credit'?

I'd guess there was a time limit, and possibly a restriction on the direction it could be used in if it was the return half of a ticket?

If you'd like help using the value of your credit, we can try and work that out, but if you wanted to rant then I hope you feel better now.

Weird question: does anyone know or have experience with asking the check in agent at departure point to interline/tag a bag between co located airports e.g. arriving in to JFK and connecting from LGA or arriving into IAD and connecting through DCA? Obviously the bag would have to be claimed by the passenger at the port of entry and the passenger would have to get it to the next airport but can the original check in agent tag it for a different airport?

UL, JL and MH will still check through across tickets.
BA and QR will not check through, period. Even to themselves.
CX will check through to other CX/KA flights.
QF and AA will check through to their own flights, will check through to other oneworld provided one ticket is an award.
I have an award ticket in Business on AA DFW-DOH and paid seat in economy DOH-SYZ on QR. Does this policy stand where AA will check my luggage all the way through to final destination?
