A hooker is a hooker, but a cheap hooker is hard on the eyes.

Yes. Definitely.

I've had this from a number of DTW-based FAs as well, almost verbatim. Must be the new rallying cry.

Target Your Marketing

Free advice to DTW GA part time hookers: Learn to target your marketing efforts for maximum revenue. Almost all SLF in front of you with an F on their BP are lonely guys from out of town who have much more money than NW management. . .

I think it is interesting that you think NW DOESN'T know. She has a supervisor and that supervisor has a supervisor. They all walk the concourse and they see her. Clearly NW doesn't have a problem with her appearance.

No one around here cares anymore. I almost hate going to work as I have to listen to people either complain or stress out about how they are going to afford to live anymore.

are we the fashion police?

I don't think we should complain to someone's employer about her hair and clothing and possibly get her in trouble on her job. Everybody can't be a fashion plate.

Personally, I could care less about what a Gate Agent was wearing as long as she did her job and provided me good customer service. Southwest employees wear shorts for that matter. FWIW, I don't care if all the NWA dressed as hookers.

The problem is that it's not about being a fashion plate. NW is paying her to dress a certain way. If she can't be bothered to follow that policy, who's to say whether she is following policy on other things such as battlefield upgrades, etc. If she doesn't want to get into trouble, then all she has to do is follow a simple uniform policy.
I can't be everywhere my employees are so I appreciate it when a customer lets me know that there's an issue with an employee. It gives me a chance to follow up and find out what's going on.

Talking A bit petty???

Without seeing what the woman looked like, it would be inappropriate for me to judge...so I won't.

If you felt she was inappropriately dressed, I'd certainly have emailed NWA. But I personally don't think this was the appropriate forum. Nothing was accomplished, and if anything, NWA may end up thinking "just another whinney Elite..why should we listen?"

While how one looks is important, did she provide timely, professional service? If she did, the email could be "so and so did provide a high level of service. I was a bit concerned about her appearance..".

Most of the time the people I meet at NWA are professional, hardworking and a credit to NWA. Unless they have hygine problems etc, my test is the same as that great thinker of the 21st century, Larry the Cable Guy, who exclaims with passion "Get eeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr done." That's what it ultimately comes down to.

I only hope the OP isn't dependent upon her in a emergency situation sometime.

I personally think it's kind of creepy that you took her picture. Aren't you a frequent flier? Wouldn't "your word" be enough in a letter? Why do you have to take pictures of employees? We get your point. But the fact that you now have her picture and can do God-knows-what with it (photoshop, leering, whatever. No offense intended - I just don't know you, and what you would do with this picture.) creeps me out. I'd say definitely write a letter about your dissatisfaction with this person, but delete the picture, and unless you are some kind of highly paid NWA spy, lose the camera. Would YOU want some stranger taking your picture at work unawares??

Quite a variety of interesting responses to this thread. IMHO, if the poster was put off by the employees appearance, he should provide comment to NW Management who then decides if they concur or not, and if they do, will handle however they feel appropriate. Simple as that.

A picture is worth 1000 words. It's a public place, and if I want to take a picture I will. Simple as that. I think that a photo would be most helpful to NWA, esp. if they have the follow through skills to actually do something about this person.....If I were a "highly paid" member of NWA management, I'd be absolutely furious to see this ridiculously attired "clown" standing in my state-of-the-art, world class "World Gateway " making my company look absolutely atrocious.

Do you drive around town and take pictures of "real hookers" and send them into the police? I mean, that might actually do some good at fighting some illegal activity. And, FWIW, you contradict yourself: you are correct that it is a public place as the McNamara terminal is owned by Wayne Co. and NW is the major tenant; it's not NW's 'state-of-the-art, world class "World Gateway" '.

This...this is just petty over-reaction, IMO, and isn't doing any good other than causing a few laughs on an Internet bulletin board.

Heasdstrong, I disagree. I think the supervisor knows and is afraid to make a problem out of it.

I used to work for a newspaper and one department had a woman working there who wore leotard tops with her chest hanging out, and her hair tied up in a bow like Madonna (it was some years ago, and Madonna was into that "like a virgin" stage).

Anyway, my department was next to theirs, and we were addressing the appropriateness of our own employees' clothing. A couple of our employees asked how come they had to dress in a businesslike manner and that other employee didn't.

I told her that I couldn't determine what another manager did or did not do (no matter what I thought personally). But I could set the standards in my department. I also said that I knew our employees felt more professional as a result.

The other manager was a guy and just didn't know how to approach a female employee and say, "your boobs shouldn't be hanging out".

I think this is what's going on with this gate agent... a manager with no courage.

Go ahead and send the letter and the photo to mgmt.
Rita
