So far, it's just OK.
At the begening.
Coach Choice was even on SAAB 340's(1B,C my favorite seats)
.
My airport serves only 2 Carrier NW and US with small aircrafts only.
so I was considering to move to UA.
however it's removed from that after few weeks.
Now what? rocking MRs, EUA, and crossing 'ponds' w/ NW.
It's nightmare thinking about $charge$ on Exit-row seat on Cross pond flights.)

The again, I've never sat in a CoachChoice seat, pre- or post-promotion, and am short enough that bulkhead means more to me then exit seat, so it's really a non-issue to me... except the risks associated with what NW might do to Elites next.

I have only flown a few times since Coach Choice was implemented, and it hasn't affected me at all. As long as I can choose an aisle seat (preferably bulkhead), I am happy. And then my upgrade goes thru, and it is a non-issue.

If NW wants to make money for on board service, sell real meals and Digiplayers.

Do you know if affects CO Elites? I heard about the program and stopped booking on NW--I get to MSP through IAH which is a haul. If it doesn't affect me, I'll come back.

I was on a CO itinerary (#$%@ 50% EQM! Had to wait 2 extra months to make silver because of that!) at the time CC was introduced. On my next NWA itinerary, I decided to be a cheapskate outbound and not get the CC seats, because I knew I'd be SE inbound, then I wound up getting EUA'ed on all the domestic segments inbound anyway.
So I guess CC hasn't really affected me much.

Don't like it
I'm gold, so if given enough notice I'll often get upgraded.
I like being able to pick a good seat when I book. I don't like having to check the morning of the flight to get a better seat.
I fly from DTW, so i'm in a captive market.

Since 3 months have gone by I still have my likes and dislikes about 'Coach Choice'. I might be wrong but it still seems like you unable to book 'Coach Choice' seats after you book the flight? As you look at the seat map of a full flight and notice all the seats are taken. And not able to pick a 'Coach Choice' seat...this coming from a NW Elite flyer.

I was infuriated like most at first, but the program changes made it much more feasible for elites. I was mystified recently when I tried to actually purchase a coach choice seat for my wife on a MSP-HNL leg. I can't understand why an elite can't purchase a seat for the $15 fee until that magic 24 hour time.

I think they quieted a lot of criticism by not applying fees to elites, though I guess there's still a possibility of getting booked to a middle seat and having to wait for time windows to open to try to move to something better. Unfortunately the most common situation for that is high-demand flights booked relatively late, and in that situation the person is more likely to have paid a fare above the lowest one.
It'd seem that the main target would be infrequent flyers on long hauls. These people are probably the least experienced with online booking. If two travel together, one usually gets a middle seat anyway (unless it's a widebody with side rows for 2). Someone might try Coach Choice to avoid a situation where a party of 2 or more gets split to individual seats, but usually that happens mainly to standbys at the last minute. An individual might use it to get out of a middle seat or into an exit-row seat on a long flight, but how often are the infrequent flyers checking the seatmaps?
