He has a cigar club too, if that's your poison. Very interesting place.

Arrow Recommendations on Great Italian Restaurant In NYC....

I love Chicken Marsala.

I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions.

I have been to Parkside in Queens which is great but looking to a great place in the city.

I dont have a budget, so all prices ranges work for me. From small hole in the walls to larger restaurants are fine as well long as the food is great.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if there are any "great" restaurants that serve chicken marsala, as most "great" restaurants tend to be slaves to trendiness and chicken marsala isn't exactly trendy these days.

That said, the Palm serves a darn good chicken marsala, even if it's not unique to NY. A more classic NY place would be Patsy's, which was Sinatra's hangout in the day, but you'll pay a steep price for the nostalgia--I went once and the food was okay but nothing special.

There are a ton of solid Italian restaurants in Manhattan - do you have a neighborhood preference?

Chicken Marsala + money, no object = Cirpiani, Fifth and 59th.

(Note to forum regulars: I didn't say I would eat there.)

If money is no object, go to Il Mulino, on W. 3rd St. Don't eat for a week before you go. Good luck getting a reservation.

Cipriani Dolci inside Grand Central also should have chicken marsala. Their food is indeed pretty good (I ate there once several years ago on a business lunch) and it's also great fun for people watching, since it's right in the main hall. I think it's only open for lunch, though, not dinner.

Are you serious? You are just asking for trouble with a question like that. Brace yourself for a lot of strongly held opinions.

Jazzop is correct but all the ones who disagree with mine are wrong!! So there!

The best Italian restaurant in New York is:

Il Mulino http://www.ilmulino.com/

It has been the best for a long time and remains so. reserve at least a week in advance unless you're willing to dine on Spanish time, around 11 PM or so.

Gotta reserve a lot more than a month in advance. Oh, and bring your wallet. It's not cheap.

The OP's search for the best Italian restaurant cannot be answered. It's that simple. New York isn't a one horse town. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of fantastic Italian restaurants. Whether you can spend frugally or want to blow the bank away, you'll find great Italian cuisine here.

If the OP tells us what neighborhood he/she prefers, I'm sure many of us can recommend a whole slew of them.

How about Jillie's (sp?) It's some joint that my mother -- who's a native New Yorker - always used to recommend and add that "Sinatra would always go there." I think it was in the "old neighborhood" - meaning somewhere up around 1st and 116th St., not sure if it's still going but as of a few years ago when I caught a segment on 60 Minutes or one of those news programs that was about them having a legal fight over the name Jillie's with another establishment, it was still going strong...
