So, I have flown very little by my standards.

In addition, my travel patterns changed when I was traveling. My project was in Portland. I used to fly United exclusively, but this year I got engaged and did not really want to spend as much time in airports as I have in the past. (go figure) Anyhow, Alaska has direct flights at perfect times for me, so I asked for (and received) a status match in August to MVP Gold. It expires at the end of this year. In August, it looked as if there was no problem with requalifying for MVP Gold. However, with the health issues, I did not even qualify for MVP!!! I was facing being statusless for 2006.

I called AS MP to ask them if they would take pity on me. They comped me MVP Gold for another year!!!! THEY ROCK!!!

UA Status Match

I have attempted a UA status match. I have faxed them, 2x already, and at least a half-dozen emails. I even wrote to them asking if they recieved my 2nd fax. They cannot answer, and I must wait 7-10 days.

I'm ready to book a flight for 1/5. If I do not hear back from UA I will just go ahead with the AA challenge.

Thanks for FT and members providing this information to us all ^

I feel your pain times five. I am going thru the same run-around with Delta. I started 12/8, and am still waiting, though I think I have finally given them the last scrap of info they want. Their first response was a letter dated 12/13, but received 12/27 by US mail. They won't email. They won't phone. They do things their way or not at all. And they march to the beat of their own drum...

At least you get some sort of response. I get nothing again and again, and I am really a patient guy sometimes. I guess I should have a better attitude around Christmas, and give UA a break ;) I would think they would more than welcome someone WANTING to use their airline, or maybe they think they have enough customers.

I need to book my 1/5 Shanghai trip, maybe I'll use them anyway, and put a refundable ticket on their books.

Yeah. Some kind of response. I offered them 70 round trips spread among 5 flyers if they responded within 10 days. And the first peep I heard from them took 19 days. I thought they would be anxious for the business. But their system is rigid. I finally started booking my January trips even without the status. Ugh!

Colleague requested a comp to Diamond from Hyatt. Faxed in SPG Plat and HHonors Gold. Took a full month (to the day!) to get a response, but yesterday they were upgraded to Diamond status.

VERY short elite membership for CO

On Dec 9th I sucessfully status matched to CO from AA. I got my card in the mail today, and it expires 02/06 (not 02/07!). I've got three cross country trips scheduled in March and April alone.

Anyone have any ideas?

I booked myself in preferred economy for my trip in April. If my elite status expires in Feb, can I still sit there?

Thanks

I don't think you can lose status that quickly if I remember right, and if you already have a confirmed seat assignment on a paid flight, I can't see how that could change.
Perhaps you should just call Onepass to find out why your status period is so short.

Bye bye OZ to Asia!

Sitting in ICN right now, just wanted to reiterate that while OZ isn't to shabby of an airline itself, it's pretty amazing that Asiana Club doesn't comprehend the fact that it can (possibly) poach a motivated AA flyer in the Asia sector.

Your status PROBABLY will expire 02/07, call CO. (In other words, expect a new card in Feb.)

UA PremExec matches

Has anyone who recently matched to UA PremExec gotten e-upgrade certs with the match, or did they start with a 0-balance?

Thanks

traveladdie Jan 1, 2006 9:41 am

zero balance

gleff Jan 1, 2006 10:25 am

status match w/ ua does not start you out w/ any e-upgrades.

however it doesn't reset your mleage counter for earning the upgrades to zero either (in other words if you're a 2P and have miles towards the next set then you won't have to start from zero to earn more)

AA status match

the only thing I've read about this is the Gold/Platinum challenge, but you need to sign up before you travel I believe.
