Since United is a relatively easy comp you might be able to go from Air Canada to another carrier to United. Downside is that you won't have flight activity with that other carrier to show United... just a printout that shows your status and (if you wait long enough) an elite card. But there's a better shot of this working than of showing them your AC status. UA does comp other *A. As I just went through the process, and did call everyday to "check" the status, I've landed on a very nice agent. Once I've told the story she said "but we don't comp from *A". I engaged her in a conversation trying to ask why exactly is that - is not that I'm going to get anything new (i.e., *G will get you exactly the same boarding zones and priorities on UA as 1P), just the miles will be deposited to another account (granted there are differences on how many miles you get in each program but that is not the point). To make a long story short she said, let me check something out, she pulled up the list of programs UA comp from, and low and behold LH was there. Needless to say I've got comped to 1P. |

Any updates on CO, faxed my comp request in yesterday.. will let you guys know how it goes.

if you are spending significantly money, you might want to considering buy the 1K status for $20K. Basically you prepaid UA $20K, and have one-year to use the credit and you get your 1K status immediately.

My wife and I just applied for a status match with UA. We both are (and have been for a while) CP on US. I faxed them a cover letter and copies of our US accounts showing CP status for the last four years. Their response was to grant us EP, not 1K. Together, we fly over 250K miles per year. I guess that was not enough. Perhaps I should have sent a printout of dollars spent too. |
I fax copied of my AA EXP card and letter .... was given 1P within 48 hours

Does anyone know if airlines will status match for promo elite status? I have the ability to upgd. to Silver until 2/27/07 on CO by paying $350 and, as I generally fly out of SEA, I called AS to see if I'd get priority boarding, seating, etc. While the CSR said no, she did say that they would do a status match for the remainder of the year if I sent in my elite card and OP statement (I didn't tell her that it was a promo upgd).
Now, I haven't flown at all on CO this year yet (thought I'd give B6 a try, but getting to JFK is such a pain and they only have a red-eye return to JFK), although I am going to do some MRs to try to maintain status (mostly shuttle between SEA and EWR and maybe SEA-SFO). My question, guys and gals, is do you think AS is likely to still offer me a status match seeing as I haven't flown at all this year (although I did fly nearly 15K miles on AS last year with only NSs) or would it be more prudent to wait towards the end of the year (which is peak travel for me) to do a SM and would that SM only apply to the end of 06 or would it be possible to get it close enough to the end of the year (or even wait for 1/07) for it to be for 07? AS seems to be generous in terms of bending the rules a bit in my past experience, and I'd stand a better chance at getting MVP comp upgds on AS flights than I would on CO, but I don't know. I mean, even if they didn't SM me, I'd probably still wind up with enough ERMs for a free ticket on CO or a partner and then some, and actually be able to use it because of Elite status. I posted something kind of similar in the OP board, but this is a slightly different question. Also, do you think that any other airlines, like UA or AA, would also be willing to do a status match? I know that few here actually need to pay for status, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. - Ben (Edited to air new thought) |

Thanks! |
UGS = United Global Services (lotsa $$$$ spent per year required)
1K = 100K Premier Executive (100K miles flown per year) 1P = Premier Executive (50K miles flown per year) 2P = Premier (25K miles flown per year) 3P = Premier Associate (gifted status from an elite member) |
After many years of being AA Gold, I recently completed the Platinum challenge so I faxed UA (yesterday) my AA statement and a short letter asking for a status match to Premier Executive. I just logged into UA and they upgraded my account per my request!!
Now I have to spend some time familiarizing myself with UA and what benefits come along with my new 1P status. My $136.00 flight from ATL - HNL (thanks FT!) is coming up in May and I’m hoping to be able to move up into an E+ seat. |

Sort ascending, 1K, 1P, 2P. I wasn't aware of the 3P. I guess following the above logic, a "gifted" Premier comes after a "normal" Premier on waitlists (assuming they've reached a point where status is the tiebreaker). Makes sense... |
Thought I should report that I was matched today SAS EBG (*G) to CO Gold. Turn around was about 2 hours from sending a fax of my card along with a quick letter.

Personally, I like AA's program much better than DL's. If someone else were using AA/DL status as a basis for a status match with FlightFund/DividendMiles, I'd use my AA status to try to get HP/US status. |

Status and MILES match

Does any AMERICAN airline match both the status and the miles? I am holding more than one million miles with M&M but would be willing to switch the status and the miles to an American airline, e.g. Continental. |
