I realised this thread discusses mainly status matches to US based airlines, does anyone have any idea if EK does status match at all?
Thanks. |
Elal anyone?
Will Elal match an AA platinum?

I am interested in getting a status match from AA to UA. If I do it before June 1st how long will the status last for opposed to after June 1st? Thanks for your help. :)

UA, should I match, or challenge, or do nothing?
Hi All,
I just got my Amex Centurion this year and have all the elite statuses that accompany it. I also upgraded my MP Visa to Plat that will get me 10,000 EQMs for this year. I have two trips already planned for this year as follows: LAX - FRA - AMS and returning MXP - FRA - LAX in May which should net me around 9,000 more EQMs plus I have an additional trip planned for Dec which roundtrip is 5000 EQMs. Total anticipated EQMs for the year earned are 24,000 +/-. My May flight is paid business (z) and my Dec is paid econ with upgrade by miles. I figure if I status match to Prem Exec before my trip in May I will get 150% of the EQM miles which should yield the following: 2006 Prem Exec (matched or challenge) 2007 Prem (minimum). So this causes me to have two questions: 1. Am I best off requesting a challenge and making May my challenge month? If so, will they ignore a trip for which tickets are already bought and paid for before my challenge month began? 2. If I request a status match, my statements for CO and US will both show Gold status with 0 miles. My DL status will show Gold with 225,000 miles but no YTD Qualification Miles. I don't have any of my Airline cards but I suppose if recommended by you guys I could call and request new ones be sent to me. So, please give me your advice on what I should do if anything. Thanks! On the statements, for an active DL flyer, would the Jan or Feb statement show any miles flown on it since its a new year if nothing was flown during those months... Thanks. |
That is a possibility, but when I first started flying UA they did ask for a copy of the three previous statements to give me the status match. It took only a few days and they sent me an email. At least try asking for the status match by faxing only the copy of your membership card, if it is not enough they will contact you. Let us know.

Just an update. With regards to status matches and UA, it seems like 120k EQMs credited to UA within 7 months but that happen to be split over the calendar year-end (c. 70k/50k) still fails to yield 1k even as part of a status match. Not much has changed in that regard since a few years back.

Since nobody answered my question, I will ask it again:
Question: When they say it is a one time thing, does this mean you can only match to one airline once, or match to any airline once? If the latter, how do airlines tell if you have matched to other airlines? Thanks a lot, Ben |

I'm AA Gold...have to fly UA a bunch over the new few weeks. Just looking to ask for a 2P match.
Does anyone know whether it's worthwhile to send a quick email asking for it? I have my shiny new (exp 2007) AA Gold card I could fax, but I wonder whether they even want to see it on a simple 2P request. Anyone have experience with this? I notice most folks here are going after the 1P and 1K comps, physically faxing stuff to get it done. Just wonder if the 2P process is the same, given how a lot of other airlines will give out the low-tier like it's water. |

Thanks a lot, Ben if asking for a status match you can only ask EACH AIRLINE once. and no big brother is not watching. same goes for hotel programs sheraton will only match you once and only if you have not earned it before as I had :( ,. so I didnt get a status match.!! many airlines will not status match but will offer you a challenge(AA) :) What most people in this thread are saying is dont get a fist full of gold at plat cards as when you really want them to mathc you they wont! :( |
