After a status match, I am 1 for 5 this year on CO. The one being a 5:30 AM PHL-IAH flight. I am taking the same flight this coming Saturday, and have not received the u/g at the 3 day window. Traveling on an O fare. BTW, all my travel is PHL-IAH-PHL.:td:

I haven't updated my signature yet.

Hello! After lurking here for many years, I have finally decided to ask my first question in the forum.

I am working in Switzerland and fly fairly frequently between GVA and NYC. I am in UA's PE but most of my flights are on Swiss, which are often in business class (fare class C). I think I flew about 70k miles on Swiss between GVA and JFK and another 24k or so on UA inside the US.

The problem is, as far as I can tell (UA is not very good at telling you how many EQ miles you have earned), it seems as if UA is not giving any kind of EQM bonus for the LX flights. Once my flight was re-routed because of weather and I went on LH and got an EQM bonus, a pretty hefty one.

So, that brings me to my questions. Should I switch programs? To LX or LH? Would either of these airlines match status? Thank you for any insights you may have!

Hi !

LH & LX are in the same programm called Miles & More aka "Miles&Less" :D

If you fly frequently on LX/LH it would certainly make sense to switch since the treatment is better as a M&M elite. Also if you fly Business Class your miles count double for status and bonus miles !

There is nothing like a status match but you reach Frequent Traveller/FTL/*S from 35K and Senator/SEN/*G with 100K miles.

As soon as 2008 starts I would credit to M&M and use your UA *G card for lounge access and the affiliated benefits.

Cheers,

Im looking for this information as well. The opening post has contact information for just about everyone but American. Does anyone know if they still status match?

Based on what I have heard they almost exclusively offer challenges, although I would LOVE to be proven wrong.

Thank you very much! After reading all the details on the various web sites, I agree with your assessment. I registered with M&M today...

Not really proving you wrong, but AA does corporate status matches to Plat/Gold. :)

Yep, know that for sure, that falls into my "almost exclusively" category.:D Unfortunately would love to be proven wrong outside of corporate matches.:o

AA used to do matches only against UA status but that's very old data and I haven't seen any discussion of it in a few years.

If we're talking old, AA matched my Delta status, Platinum for Gold Medallion - but that was also very old data, and my travel agent's sales rep may have had something to do with it. (The term "travel agent" suggests how old the data point is.) Wouldn't happen today.

The long hold mantra is that airlines do not normally encourage intra-alliance "defections". However some posters on this thread seem to have succeeded, while others say it cannot be done. Hence does anyone have any recent experiences of moving to UA from a *A member, other than US?

I flew about 60k miles on UA in 2007 (posting to BD&OZ) and will do about the same in 2008. The trips are all for leisure, so will be in the cheapest seats I can get. I could of course earn 1P the hard way, but I wouldn't get the E+ access or the 100% RDM bonus while I did it(which would be enough for an extra Saver award to the US) .

As a low rev passenger, do you think I stand a chance of being offered the challenge? Of course, I could just wait until 2nd Jan and then email UA to find out.......

Virgin Atlantic Status Match

I have Virgin Atlantic Silver Status (Mid-Tier) and wanted to know if any of the major US airlines will match my status to any mid-tier. I don't have the strength to search thru 87 pages...

Which SkyTeam Airline is easiest to get Status Match?

Compared to most folks here I am "not worthy", but I did fly about 35segments (but split on too many airlines) in one 12 month period spanning 2006/07 so I'm not an "infrequent flyer" either.

Here's the deal -- In 2007 I flew:

US - ~5000 miles and got Silver based on a Challenge which expires Feb 08.
CO - ~9500 miles
NW - ~500 miles

The catch is that all of that occured between Feb and June 07. I want to "milk the elite" for a little while longer by getting a Status Match, probably to a SkyTeam partner. I expect to fly about 15,000-20,000 miles again this year.

Knowing the usage patterns shown above, who is more likely to give me a status match, NW or CO (or should I be considering something else)? Since I don't fly enough to earn enough free tickets to take the entire family on vacation, my goals are less related to bonus mileage and more related to access to faster check in, upgrades, exit rows, etc. on my business trips.

As a side note, I fly from IND which is a focus city for NW, but I've enjoyed past experiences on CO better than NW (would I have a better experience on NW if I were elite?).

The biggest thing you have to watch with CO is deeply discounted fares only count 50% EQM and no EQM segments. I overlooked this twice in 2007 which then necessitated MR in December for $225, although my late booking Dec 06/Jan07 to LAS for $700+ had me scratching my head on that one (didn't mind the fare because I had $500 bump voucher). It all depends upon your travel patterns. I book cheap because it's my nickel. If you think you are going to be close and you book cheap, stick with NW. Once you get elite you can then be in good shape if/when you need to fly CO.

United Elite Challenge

Hey everyone... I've tried skimming through the past 87 pages of posts as best as I can; but I have a question that I did not see asked. I am currently Silver on both US (Expiring 02/2008), and DL (Expiring 02/2009). I am based in DC; so the majority of my flights are on UA (out of Dulles) and US (out of DCA). I was on a project last year that required me to use the Delta Shuttle; which is why I am losing my US status (Only had 15K EQM) and got Delta instead (30K MQM).

I would really like to get status on United this year; and I am now on a project that will require me to fly LAX-->IAD a handful of times over the next few months. I am hesitant to send in my DL Silver card, as I would really like to get matched to 1P and not 2P. What is the best way to go about the status match / elite challenge?? Will United do a challenge without sending in a card? Or do I have to send in my DL Silver to even be considered for a match?

Thanks for the advice!
