UA status will get you a higher spot on the waitlist if you're trying to upgrade, but you'd still need either (1) an upgradeable fare and the miles or (2) an upgradeable fare and a systemwide upgrade (not that upgradeable fares are different for systemwides than for miles).
UA Premier Executive status will get you lounge access while flying internationally in coach (of course you're already Star Alliance Gold, so you'd have that anyway), bonus miles, and economy plus seating (extra legroom). A Premier Executive can also pre-reserve exit row seats, subject to availability. However, in general, I don't suggest status matches for a single trip. However your trip may allow you to complete the challenge and have 1P for next year. And there are reports that the challenge from UA isn't a once-in-a-lifetime thing. So might be worth it.

I am currently Platinum on US and am close to CP (95k+). I need to fly to Vietnam in a few weeks, and am trying to figure out how to fly better than coach. I am willing to use miles (have a bunch) but nothing is available on any Star Alliance carrier.
The best set of flights I have found for my schedule is UA...if I try to get a status match on UA would it help my upgrade possibilities any? With this flight, if I use my US DM number I would have over 125k miles earned this year, so I am not opposed to using my UA MP number. But I'm not sure it's worth it. Any thoughts from the experts? Thanks in advance. -D US Platinum (soon to be CP) no status on anybody else (I live near PHL) |

I too am looking for a fax number to send in my status match request.
When I called them up last week, they said the only way to do this is mail in the request. |
I tried searching through the first 10 or so pages without finding anything, but how long after faxing info in does Delta take to apply a status match to your account? I sent mine in last Thursday (September 20th, 2007) and have a flight coming up next Wednesday (October 3, 2007) in which I'm hoping to be able to upgrade IF the status match goes through in time.
Thanks :) |
Does Jet Airways (India) status match? Have highest status on KL/AF, bmi and AA

I faxed my letter to the fax number listed in this thread without contacting (email, phone) to request a match first. Is this ok? Or do I need to receive an email or letter officially informing me of how to request the match first?
Thanks! |

I guess if it doesn't go through by next saturday's update I'll call or email and make sure the fax/mail info hasn't changed.

Thanks! Faxing without a preliminary phone call worked for me with bmi. I attached a recent printout from my AA account showing a good deal of activity, a scan of my current Platinum (mid-tier) card, and a scan of an EXP (top-tier) card that expired Feb. 2007, both with expiration dates clearly visible. My cover fax also explained my reasons for wanting the status match. However, that's no guarantee that faxing without a phone call will work anywhere else. You also didn't say what you attached to your fax. Each airline has its own procedures and its own documentation requirements. If you can say which airline you faxed and what you attached, those who know more about that airline might be able to chime in. |
I faxed to Delta. The number I faxed to was 404-773-1945. Is this number still good? Should I just go ahead and send a preliminary email and re-fax it, or does that run the risk of mucking things up?
Thanks |

The speed others have received the match in is making me worry. I faxed mine Thursday afternoon and here it is Monday afternoon with no match yet. Should I call and check on the status? What number should I call?

you can also try calling cust svc and asking what the number is. this is what i did with UA. |
It took me 3 tries on two different fax machines to get 404-715-9220 to work. Seems like it may be a single machine and/or single line because a few times I got busy signals and a few times I got no response. I'll report back if things happen any quicker after using this number.
Thanks! |
I am going to be staying at Hyatts in the coming future and wanted to get comped to Diamond from HH Diamond. Is it just a matter of calling the HGP number and asking and they will then tell me to fax proof of Diamond status to a number?
