Any word on whether UA challenges as opposed to status matches are once in a lifetime, or if they can be done multiple times?
|
UA challenges can be carried out again once your prior status has lapsed. For example, if your status was made gold due to a challenge, you can't retain gold with another challenge, but three weeks after your gold expires, you can request another. (at least this was the case when UA ran MPP597 back in January.)

BA Match ?
Hi All
Have searched this but no luck !! ........ Does anyone know if BA ever status match ? ...... I am VS Gold but likely to change jobs in the near future which will mean flying with BA instead of VS, would be nice to kick start my BA Exec Club membership !! Cheers MS |
They generally only match via corporate agreements (they get a big new corporate contract, they agree to match status of employees who are being forced to switch to BA). In that case they'll match to Gold no difficulties. But as a general rule they do not.

From the first post in the thread... not sure of its current validity...
"Airlines that will not generally match status: * Air Canada * Lufthansa * British Airways - with some exceptions for very significant revenue (per ScottC) * Air France (per dctorres) * Cathay Pacific * Singapore" |

Checked the bmi website et voila... GOLD! Exciting although not sure why I am excited. Just makes me top level in all 3 global alliances, which is kind of sad. Guess that is what 6 (7th next week) roundtrips to Asia from NY do to you
What was the point of that then? Any feedback? |
Congrats anandrag!

Saw your list of status. Pretty impressive. Much through Amex Centurion? |

I was just comped to gold by NW, but then reading their FF rules, it states you only have international lounge access when you are platinum! :td:

For an update I just received the following email today:
Hello Mr. caseaustin, Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier Executive status in the Mileage Plus program! This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever. Your status will be effective for 90 days. To keep the status through February 2008, just earn 12,500 base flight miles or 15 base flight segments on United, Ted or United Express within the 90-day timeframe. Once you meet that threshold, a Premier Executive kit will be generated and mailed. Until you have a card, be sure to add your Mileage Plus number to your reservation in order to fully benefit from your elite status. To maintain the status throughout all of 2008, you must earn 50,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) or 60 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) by December 31, 2007. EQM and EQS are earned on United, United Express, Ted and the Star Alliance members listed below: Adria Airways | Air Canada | Air New Zealand | All Nippon Airways | Asiana | Austrian Airlines Group | Blue1 | bmi | Croatia Airlines | LOT Airlines | Lufthansa | SAS | Singapore Airlines | South African Airways | Spanair | Swiss International Air Lines | TAP Portugal | THAI | US Airways For details about the Mileage Plus elite program, visit www.united.com/elite. I hope you will travel with us often and experience the exceptional service and style reserved for our elite members around the world. Thank you for choosing United, and enjoy your Premier Executive membership! Regards, Mileage Plus Elite Status Match So I guess the normal status match no longer exists. Now the tough decision is do I try to at least make UA Premier status for post February 2008 or do I work on re-qualifying for CO Gold? Not a good start with me flying UA. Is there any other way to play this? Thanks. |

This is troubling to me as well. I'm a lifetime CO Platinum, but I wind up flying the Star Alliance airlines a fair bit. I status matched US in late 2005 (and they gave me 2006 as well), but I lost interest when UA kicked the US elites out of Economy Plus. I currently have a lot of Q4 reservations on UA and US, so I was thinking of trying for a Mileage Plus match -- hoping to carry that status into 2008. But it sounds like this won't work too well for me -- probably about half the miles will be on US, so I might not even get to 12,000 UNITED miles in 90 days.

Also, your US flights will count toward the status match challenge as well: EQM and EQS are earned on United, United Express, Ted and the Star Alliance members listed below: Adria Airways | Air Canada | Air New Zealand | All Nippon Airways | Asiana | Austrian Airlines Group | Blue1 | bmi | Croatia Airlines | LOT Airlines | Lufthansa | SAS | Singapore Airlines | South African Airways | Spanair | Swiss International Air Lines | TAP Portugal | THAI | US Airways | Varig |

UA status match took <4 hours
I sent an email to [email protected] with my AAdvantage info and got the confirmation email of the status match (well, challenge) to Premiere Executive in less than 4 hours. I'll have to move up a trip by a few days to get the 12,500 miles in the next 90 days, but I'm impressed with how quickly I got a response.
