Fantastic! Love FT! Thanks for the advice. Are you aware of any star alliance lounge upgrades since posting your review in Dec '04? If not I'll add my 2 cents to the thread once I get to LA.

I tried to ask UA match AC elite status, but they are only giving me premier (first level) with the condition that I have to accumulate some miles/segments in the next 90 days. Any tips on how I can get UA to give me premier executive level? I fly alot and I don't mind have an additional condition attached.

Why you need the UA status if you have already AC one? Both are members of StarAlliance... I guess if you would comp at UA with oneworld or Skyteam FF card of the correct level, you would get the comp on UA...
AC Elite is 35k, whereas Premier Executive is 50k, so if you havn't hit 50k, that would explain why they would not match. I know some people hold AC Elite and UA Premier, the latter just for E+. |

Because with premier executive status you get 100% bonus miles on either UA or USAir flights, which are what I take most of the time. I understand that there is a qualification difference between UA premier exec and AC elite, but I made it clear to the csr that I am willing to make up the difference. |

What I can recommend to do is that comp to Skyteam status based on AC one, hopefully to higher level on DL or CO and then comp via that to UA, as DL and CO are other alliance competitors for UA. ;) Or make yourself by earning to UA wished status and on the way there you can still use *A gold benefits thanks for AC level.. :) |

Sounds like UA is currently offering a challenge, not an automatic match. |

FWIW, I asked UA to match my AA PLT status and was told that I would be given PE for 90 day and needed to fly 12,500 miles. Luckily, one (upcoming) trip to China should take care of that.)
Sounds like UA is currently offering a challenge, not an automatic match. I'd say UA is granting the status match and asking for a "good faith" effort on your part to show that they haven't comp'd status to someone who will only use it for one or two short-ish liesure flights vs. someone who truly intends to be a UA frequent/elite flyer. It seems entirely reasonable to me, anyway. cheers! |

At least UA will comp you the status while you are making the challenge. On AA you don't get status until you meet the mileage requirement for the challenge--so no preferred seating/boarding and no mileage bonus until the challenge is done. Granted, a non-issue if you knock it out in one trip, but something to keep in mind if you know you'll need the full 90 days to meet the challenge on short-haul trips.
[deleted] It seems entirely reasonable to me, anyway. I don't think they need to offer it, but it is a nice touch. |

Data Point:
Asked NWA to match my UA Prem Exec (*G) membership using the fax number provided in this thread. 12-14 days later, received an email (below) confirming Gold WorldPerks / SkyTeam Elite. - - - - - - - - - Dear Mr seanp7, Thank you for contacting Northwest Airlines in regard to upgrading your WorldPerks account, <number> A variety of criteria, including information from your United Airlines mileage summary, is considered when evaluating requests from members to match elite status from another airline. After reviewing the information provided to us on your Mileage Plus account, your Northwest WorldPerks account has been upgraded to Gold Elite status. This one-time complimentary membership upgrade will remain valid through February 29, 2008. Your credentials are now being processed and will be mailed to the address on file. You may expect to receive your Gold Elite kit in approximately three weeks. In the interim, WorldPerks Elite members are now able to print off their temporary WorldPerks reference card through nwa.com, if a PIN is established. From the nwa.com Home Page, select WorldPerks, then Manage My Account, then select Request a WorldPerks Reference Card, or click on the following address at: https://webx25.nwa.com/cgi-bin/wp_card.pro If you have difficulties with the process, please contact our online support group at [email protected] or 1-800-692-6955 open 24/7. In order to requalify for the 2008 program year (01MAR08 through 28FEB09), you must accumulate the minimum elite qualifying mile or travel the required qualifying segment thresholds through December 31, 2007. Actual flight miles must be earned on Northwest, KLM, Alaska Airlines, Continental Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, SkyTeam Alliance members or Northwest-designated flights operated by other WorldPerks partner airlines. Bonus miles and partner mileage credit do not count towards the annual elite qualification threshold. We sincerely appreciate the support we receive from our members. We are working hard to distinguish Northwest Airlines as a carrier of preference and we hope you will allow us the continued privilege of serving your air travel needs. Sincerely, <name>, Manager WorldPerks Service Center |
