I just wanted Plat status, because I bought a CO ticket for SEA-EWR-BOM using my TY points. If I like the flight, I might continue to use the route for my 2 trips to India every year.

Since you were able to get Plat on CO, maybe you can detail or summarize what you did, so that others can receive guidance? (myself included, if I decide to go for the match and try out some CO flights.. ;) )

Same thing as mentioned in the first post (except that the mailing address has changed).

Include the following information -
1) Covering Letter - Most important! Ensure you include information about the reason, why they should give you a status match. Tell them about your plans to use Continental as your primary airline and your need to travel to cities, which are CO hubs (so that you can talk about direct flights, etc.)
Also include information like Name, Address, Phone #, OnePass #, Email address, etc.
2) A copy of your current elite status card.
3) A copy of your latest elite statement.

To thecompdude. would like to try UA 1K to CO Plat too

I would like to follow thecompdude's step to request the status match from my UA 1K to CO Plat.

Could thecompdude tell me when your new CO valid till?

I am an old 1K and this status will be expired on next Feb and I will be only 1P after that. My planning CO flights will be from NRT to BOS via IAH on 'next April'. Is it possible to get CO Plat match till the end of next April from this situation?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that if you get a status match any time between now and next June, your status will be gauranteed through February 2009. After next June it would be good through February 2010, but as you said, your 1K will expire this coming February, so that won't be an option.

In general status matches in the second half of the year are valid till February two years later, so I would guess CO is the same.

I've been faxing to get US Airways to match my CO Gold Elite status for the last 2 weeks and still no response. Has anyone been able to match or has the fax number changed? Thanks!

Seb.-

Might be worth looking at a post I wrote in the BD forum as particularly for short haul flying, LH/LX's programme maybe better:

Not necessarily true.

For example, my partner flys regularly in European J transiting either MUC, FRA or ZRH.

Let's use the following example (which I suspect many Euro flyers out there do): If you took 8 return flights credited in to LH that would net 100,000 including the SEN status bonus which also counts towards elite or status miles, i.e. that is

10,000 (2,500 miles per sector) x 8 x 1.25 (25 % status bonus) = 100,000

This would give you SEN status for 2 years and 100,000 miles to burn.

On BD, 8 flights on LH/LX would net you 38,400 which would also give you BD*G. This would give you 48,000 destination miles to burn on flights.

With this in mind, which programme would you pick? Yes, cash and miles would be an option to make up the short fall, but at least on LH you would not have to hand over the cash in the first place just to get the premium seat on your redemption.

The only place where BD is better is on long haul F or J.

Things of course change when you get above the 55K mark, but the above example flyer would not have reached this milestone and it would not be for another 3 return flights via FRA, MUC or ZRH that the 55K bonus would start to kick in.

Food for thought when picking a *A programme.

My recent CO and UA experience

Requested status match of CO based on my AA Plat (which I got by challenge) and NW Silver. Approved in less than 24 hours to CO Gold.

Current Premier with UA and requested Premier Exec for 2008 based on current bookings (35K plus in '08), CO Gold which I just got, AA Plat, NW Silver and 12.5K booking within the next 90 days ( their match program) and 35K in booking for 2008. Denied, as I was given Premier Exec by match in 2006.

I appealed based on new home airport, now living more time near SAV than TVC.

Cordial reply repeating one time status match policy.

It is nice to see them protect their Elites, but i sure would have liked those extra RDM's for my trip to NZ in Febuary.

Kudos to UA for preserving status matches!^

Has the UA number changed?

A client is trying for a UA status match and has tried to fax (605) 341-6140 3 times and the number does not work. Has the number changed? Thanks!

For some reason these airlines prefer a fax, bizarre. I would have thought the fax would have died by way of email + scanner of some sort but somehow it lives on!

Although I'm not sure about the fax number, I do know that US now offers individuals to pay for status and that if you meet their challenge requirements in a certain number of days (x miles in 90 days), you keep the status for an entire year. I think you can either call or email the DM customer service in order to sign up for this...
