Alitalia offers status match to elite members of non SkyTeam airline members
Alitalia's "Vola Al Top" promotion is offering an elite status match to elite frequent flyers from non SkyTeam airlines for the remainder of 2009 as long as you register by October 31, 09. On top of the status match Alitalia will give you 20,000 bonus MilleMiglia miles when you reach 20,000 qualifying miles and are offering lower requalification amounts in 2009 for 2010 Elite Status

CO now matching ST elites
I called up OP cs tonight and asked about switching my NW status to CO, an operation I have attempted many times earlier since moving from NYC to NJ. Previously all attempts to do this were halted citing a non compete but tonight they said yes.
***UPDATE*** confirm match through 2010

United offer me 90 days Premier Execute status. I am flying Thai and LH soon, and would like to have the UA *G in the reservation to get potentially upgrades and priority if something happens. As UA don't give me the physical card, would Thai and LH still recognize me as a UA*G? What about at check-in, would they require the physical *G card to confirm the *G priveliges for the flight?
I already have a SK*G card that I can show to get into the lounge, but as I will credit the miles from these flights to UA, it would be easier to have th UA*G in the reservation instead of the SK*G.

Delta status match
Hi *,
I want to do a status match to Delta. Would I do it now or wait? My first flight with Delta will only be in February but I don't know what the merger of NWA/DL will change for matches...
Does DL offer status for whole 2010 already if requested now?
Two more questions :
What's your feeling about the new Skymiles program? : http://www.delta.com/skymiles/about_...es_program.jsp
Anybody knows where CO will go as there're leaving Skyteam?
Thanks!
Kris

Joining Star Alliance on October 27. This is official public information, not speculation. Lots more in the CO and *A forums, as well as on www.continental.com: click "Alliance Updates" in the "Latest News" section of their home page, center, just below the ad.

Thanks Efrem.
I was looking at the Belgian homepage and it can't be found there. Switching to US version I was able to find it like you said!
I found some useful information about the new Delta medaillon program in the Delta thread. Seems most people are a bit disappointed.
If anybody has some advice about the status match I would certainly appreciate!

I sent a fax with to the Delta Status Match department this week based on feedback from this thread. I included a cover letter detailing my intention to switch my business from AirTran over to Delta, a copy of my AirTran Elite Card and a screen shot from my AirTran account showing my Elite Status and 77 avalable credits. I also mentioned in the letter that I flew 30 roundtrips with Airtran last year.
I logged on to my Delta account this morning and was happy to see I had been upgraded to Medallion status, although it is at the Silver level. While I am not complaining, this is certainly better than nothing, I was hoping for Gold based on what I have read in the flyertalk forums.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks to eveyone that has contributed here. Two Google searches and about 15 minutes was all it took me to go from AirTran elite to Delta Medallion.

Please let us know when your status is good through (if it's good through Feb '10 or Feb '11).
Thanks and welcome to the frustration and joy of Delta ;-)

UA Matched AC Prestige to 2P
I sent in a request to match AC Prestige to UA and was given 2P, with a challenge to fly 7,500 miles in 90 days.
I'm not sure if the 7,500 includes 500-mile minimum on short flights or anything, but I am on track to complete it. It's also not clear to me whether status will be valid all of next year, but I would expect so. (I'll report back when I know for sure.)
I was a little surprised that United Airlines will match Air Canada status since they're both Star Alliance, but I'm not complaining! :-)
Hello duncf,
Congratulations! You have been awarded Premier status in the Mileage Plus program! This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever.
Your status will be effective for 90 days. Your 90 day time frame will be August 2, 2009 through October 31, 2009. To remain a Premier member, you will need to fly 7,500 paid flight miles or 10 flight segments on qualifying flights* within that 90-day timeframe. Once you meet that threshold, a Premier kit will be generated and mailed. Until you have a card, be sure to add your Mileage Plus number to your reservation in order to fully benefit from your elite status.
*Qualifying flights: Purchased flights operated by United or United Express. Flight(s) must be a United flight number. Flights on other airlines do not qualify for this offer. Flights on United that have a partner's codeshare flight number do not qualify for this offer.
Premier status can be earned each year by flying 25,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) or 30 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS) between January 1 and December of each calendar year. You earn EQM and EQS on qualifying purchased flights on United and United Express and the Star Alliance members. For a current list of Star Alliance member airlines, please visit www.united.com/staralliance or www.staralliance.com.
For details about the Mileage Plus elite program, visit www.united.com/elite. Mileage Plus members are only allowed to earn elite status through the Elite Status Match program one time.
I hope you will travel with us often and experience the exceptional service and style reserved for our elite members around the world. Thank you for choosing United, and enjoy your Premier membership.

I forgot to mention that the whole process took less than a week. I e-mailed my request (including MP number and Aeroplan transaction history for a year showing Prestige status) Monday evening and got a response Sunday morning. My account registered as Premier immediately, but it took a few more days for my status to "register" with my existing itineraries so I could upgrade my seats to E+.

Good luck to you and enjoy the better seating.
As for me, I'm doing it the 'hard way' with 12 hour flights to and from HK and GZ... less than 1k to get 2P, 2 trips and a dog end to get to 1P.
The biggest benefit to me is getting additional luggage allowance on the Asia route from the UK... 20kg extra saves me 150 in air freight when I fly back with merchandise.

Just matched from CO Plat to NWA Plat. The process was easy - I just sent in a cover letter, copy of my card and activity from co website. Response took one week. Got the email today:
"A variety of criteria, including information from your Continental
Airlines mileage summary, is considered when evaluating requests from
members to match elite status from another airline. After reviewing the
information provided to us on your OnePass account, your Northwest
WorldPerks account has been upgraded to Platinum Elite status. This
one-time complimentary membership upgrade will remain valid through the
2010 elite program year. "
Looks like the status wil extend through 2010. I did ask in the cover letter for the status to be through 2010 as I already qualified for 2010 Plat status with CO.

I sent a copy of my US Gold card, CO Gold card and AA EXP to DL and requested a match. They matched me to PLAT until 2/2011 and 3 weeks later I received my card and 6 SWUs.

Would there be another airline that matches based only on a copy of the card?
