If it's only one trip (Or all trips within a month's time), I wouldn't burn my one-time match to SkyTeam for that.

Last year, when there were three US-based ST programs, no big deal. With only one left, I'd lean towards keeping that match in my back pocket for the future.

(I have three of those 206 USD CLT-Europe deals, all within 30 days. I don't fly DL/NW often, and when I do, I push the miles towards AS.)
Thanks...does CO or NW not match right now for SkyTeam? From what I'm reading, it sounds like I could do a NW or CO match and still try for a DL match down the road when I need it?

United Executive Premier match

I just submitted a request to have United match my Delta Plat. status and they just did it for the 2nd time (First time about 4 years ago and never used it) and they just awarded me Executive Premier for the next 90 days. In order to keep that status next year I need to fly 15,000 miles or 30 segments in the next 90 days. If I do so I will make EP for all of 2010.

[email protected]

is where I sent the request and it took about 3 days for a response.

Good luck!

will CO match again?

Co matched my Star Alliance silver card a couple of years ago but I never really started flying CO or depositing many miles to them somehow. I am a Delta Sky Miles Gold now and consider going back to Star Alliance this winter.
Will Continental give me a second chance? With gold this time? I mean I don't have many lifetime miles, just enough banked miles to trade them for one or two UA SWUs or so - so I could start with a new Onepass account...

I believe Continental is pretty strict about the "once-in-a-lifetime" rule, sorry.

Not sure if they just finally responded to my fax or if my email got them to act quicker.
Update: I just got a response to my followup email, so it appears that my status match was a result of my original fax and it was just a coincidence that it came shortly after I sent a followup email asking about the delay.

Anyone know the answer to this one? The UPGRD podcsat this week (episode #29) has me interested in an AS match, but only if it is good through 2010.

Requested CO Onepass to match my UA MileagePlus 1K status. Provided them a copy of my mileage statement and boarding passes with 1K status on them. They will only accept a copy of the official Mileage Plus card. Problem is, I am traveling throughout China until September and don't have the actual card on me.

Any suggestions? Just wait till I get back home and am able to make a copy of the card?

(FWIW I am hoping to have Plat status for my return HKG-MIA on Continental in September)

I'm AC*G moving to the US. I'm not quite sure which my new airline of choice ends up being, but I already booked 2 trips on DL for early 2010 (UA/US were significantly more expensive). After reading through this forum, I thought it may make sense to get a status match from DL or NWA.

My questions:
1. By what date will the NWA-DL merger be completed? Could I get the match from NWA but will effectively have status on DL by the time I do my trips?
2. I understand that the match is a "once-in-a-lifetime" deal, but if I use it with NWA, will I still have one at DL?
3. Does this match in any way affect my status with AC? In other words in 2010, I would have status in two networks.

There is no single date for this. The timeline for the various stages is here. The new, integrated program begins officially on Jan. 1, 2010.

Depends on what aspect of status you care about. Most types of reciprocity began this past March.

2. I understand that the match is a "once-in-a-lifetime" deal, but if I use it with NWA, will I still have one at DL?
That's anyone's guess. This is common practice, but generally not a written policy, so an airline can change it if it wants to.

DL/NW doesn't know or care what status you have with AC. Having status with two alliances is common. (I do. It's handy.) No airline that comps status has been reported as asking anyone to formally renounce all their existing statuses (stati?). It's not like citizenship. Having two during the transition year is the standard situation.

I just spoke to UA about doing a challenge, but ran into a catch - the 15,000 EQM needed for the Premier Executive status challenge must be flown on UA - not any partners. This doesn't really work for someone based in the US who expects to be flying overseas quite a lot with Star Alliance partners, but would like to keep the domestic membership.

Can anyone confirm that this is a requirement? Thanks, and sorry if I have missed that somewhere in this vast history of status match messages...

Smile Northwest Worldperks Silver Elite

First time posting here. I have been an unregistered lurker for years.......

I finally decided to join up and offer what little I know.

I am currently a United Elite, three years running, and I should hit Premier Executive for the first time this year.

I applied for a Northwest Worldperks Status match to Silver Elite by fax on July 12th and received a status match to Silver Elite on July 23rd.

"your Northwest WorldPerks account has been upgraded to Silver Elite status. This one-time complimentary membership upgrade will remain valid through the
2009 elite program year."

"In order to requalify for the 2010 program year, you must meet the
published minimum elite qualifying thresholds through December 31, 2009."

I was hoping to get the match a little sooner (I procrastinated in requesting it. It was actually pretty quick.) to use it for a possible upgrade on Delta. My spouse was on the same flight with Silver Elite and upgrade did not occur. Oh well.....

I will probably not re-qualify on NW this year, but I may put in for a status match by Delta late next year to Gold Elite for the 2011 program year. I am considering changing my travel from UA/US to DL. Just have not yet decided yet.

I hope to add more enlightened posts later. I do have some great anecdotes from the past, such as (Pan Am soon after Flight 103) $297 RT MSY to CDG, enough mileage points from flight and from scratch-off coupons ("Pan Am Circles the Globe" oor something to that effect.) for a free flight MSY to GVA and a "bonus" free flight MSY to SDQ. All this for $297 plus a little bit of postage for the scratch-off coupons. I joke about being the sole cause of the eventual bankruptcy of Pan Am.

It has to be on UA metal. Where are you going that you can't use UA metal to get there (or most of the way there)? Here's part of what they sent me when I was comped back earlier this year:

*Qualifying flights: Purchased flights operated by United or United Express. Flight(s) must be a United flight number. Flights on other airlines do not qualify for this offer. Flights on United that have a partner's codeshare flight number do not qualify for this offer.

On July 15th I faxed in my CO Gold credentials for 2009 and noted that I had aleady made Gold for 2010. I requested that my NW acount be matched for 2010.
Here's the response I received this morning (July 30th):

Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Northwest Airlines in regard to upgrading your
WorldPerks account, XXXXXXXXX.

A variety of criteria, including information from your Continental
Airlines mileage summary, is considered when evaluating requests from
members to match elite status from another airline. After reviewing the
information provided to us on your OnePass account, your Northwest
WorldPerks account has been upgraded to Gold Elite status for the 2010
elite program year. This is a one-time complimentary membership
upgrade.

Your credentials will be processed and will be mailed to the address
on file for delivery prior to March 1, 2010.

In order to requalify for the 2011 program year, you must meet the
published minimum elite qualifying thresholds for calendar year 2010.
Actual flight miles must be earned on Northwest, KLM, Delta Airlines,
SkyTeam Alliance members or Northwest-designated flights operated by
other WorldPerks partner airlines. Bonus miles and partner mileage
credit do not count toward the annual elite qualification threshold.

We sincerely appreciate the support we receive from our members. We are
working hard to distinguish Northwest Airlines as a carrier of
preference and we hope you will allow us the continued privilege of
serving your future air travel needs.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXX, Manager
WorldPerks Service Center

A quick check to my WP acount still shows my status as a general member, so its possible that they are either still updating it or my elite ststus wont become actve until the comencement of the 2010 program year.

Either way it was generous of them to offer it for next year IMO. I dont intend to use it all that much before October 24th at least.

Hello I am the same as above, and couldn't find the answer in this thread.

Is the 15000 mile requirement a BIS thing, or does my upcoming LHR-ORD-LHR in paid F count as 8000 or 12000 of the 15000 because of the fare bonus? Thanks in advance.
