Have no personal info on this, but there is a suggestion that United to Diners Club might be also under threat or indeed cancelled:

Thanks so much Redeeming. I was just about to apply for the United MP Credit card just to get the 15,000 miles just to be able to transfer it to Hilton. Hugs to FT!

The abruptness of the shutdown of the UA redemption windows (both HH and DC) is regrettable in that it feeds panic in the frequent flier community. People who felt reasonably comfortable holding their mileage balances may then start a "run on the bank" which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, unnecessarily creating a redemption crisis. I sure hope this doesn't spread to other airlines.

Agree if is not a confidence builder! for the record Delta to Hilton deal was ALSO yanked a few weeks back, (for reasons I have no clue about) and there was pretty short notice on that one too - but I am talking weeks there, not hours.

this is just rotten. I feel bad for everyone involved. It sounds like Hilton is to blame. However, it does not surprise me that any company will do this to frequent flier/buyers.....

Consensus is Membership Rewards is the only option left.

Actually no. It seems thar by several transfers you CAN get MP miles into HH, on a final 1=1, but there is a cap of 50K a year into Diners from UA.

To be more specific:

10,000 UA miles -> 10,000 DC points -> 5,000 AA/HA/CO miles -> 10,000 HH points

Some indeed may be happy with the half amount of CO/AA miles, but the way both of those are going lately .......

UA claims that there is an annual cap of 50k miles into a DC account, but in reality, there is not. I've transferred miles from 3 different family member accounts totaling over 200,000 miles a couple of years back into DC without any problems. Last year, as well as the current year, I've transferred UA miles into DC well over the 50k limit with no problems as well.

Unfortunately the UA to DC option appears to also have been shut down. When checking on a transfer that hadn't posted I called DC. I was told I would have to call UA as the transfer is noted on my DC account but was halted. Called UA and was told currently all transfer from UA to another program have been halted "currently".

Wow. Has anyone esle been advised of this, or might it just be a UA agent confusing it with iDine etc?

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on the view I was given some inaccurate info on the DC transfers. Today I called and was told no problem doing the transfer but also no explanation for why it had been rejected the first time. Time will tell.
