Has anyone used this website ? I signed up some time ago but haven't used it since then. They used to award 1 mile for dollar spent through their website.

And today I have received this:

Thank you for your request to join our FF Mileage Program. 1800USAHotels.com has temporarily discontinued this program. We no longer offer miles for reservations booked after 02/28/03 (while we tie the program more closely to our user profile system). We will soon re-start our FF Miles offer. At this time, your name will be added to our database of program members.

For assistance, our Mileage Program Help Desk is available via email: [email protected]. For qualifying mileage accrued, our program works as follows: you receive one mile per the US Dollar sale amount of each hotel stay you book with us. If your hotel was $99.00 per night and you stayed 3 nights you have earned 297 miles. Upon request, these miles are redeemable in blocks of 500 after completion of your hotel stay. We feature most major FF Mileage Program providers - American, Continental, Delta, Northwest & United. The certificates will not be automatically mailed to you, you must email [email protected] when you wish to cash in your miles. Furthermore, we do not credit FF Mileage Program accounts directly. If you do not wish to redeem your miles immediately that is fine, your miles will be kept in an account under your name. The miles do not expire. Questions should be directed to [email protected].

Thank you,
1800USAHotels.com

So just FYI...

I've used their program successfully. As with all travel arrangers (agents or web sites), they do not have ALL the possible rates ALL the time, so there's still shopping to do if you use them. Their points/miles crediting process was a little convoluted and partly a manual process, but it worked. It'll be interesting to see how it works with a tighter linkage to the customer profile.

I earned mileage with them 2 or 3 times. The tracking system was rudimentary (I often had to fax in receipts), and I had to call them to redeem miles (which came via snail mail in form of paper certificates). But their staff are very friendly and helpful.

They used to commonly have lower rates for a given hotel than the hotels' own sites, Expedia, etc. Lately that hasn't been the case, so I have basically stopped using them.
