(I've been with TDCT for decades, but every couple of years I shop around to see if I can find anything worth switching too, to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck.)

It a basic plan. Don't think there is a maxium, last week they credited back $41 in service charges.

So I applied for the MBNA Alaska card for the first time last week... did NOT get direct approval. Didn't call in. Today, the card came in the mail! And they extended the highest credit limit I have ever gotten to me without me even asking for anything - 60% higher than my second-highest card limit oO. What did I do to deserve this? Did you guys also get surprisingly high limits on the MBNA card? I mean I don't mind at all lol.

How long after the first purchase do the miles usually post?

Takes about 2 billing cycles to get the points.

For me I usually receive the points as soon as the AF is paid

Sorry if covered, but scanning this long thread can't find AMEX churn info.

AMEX Canada warned me I won't get bonus on personal AMEX Gold because I've already received it 18 months ago. Need to wait 4 yrs before getting bonus again. True for you guys churning AMEX in Canada?

Oh crap. So officially being enforced now? I guess it's really dead now.

Yes, Amex phone rep.

Sorry to hear that..:td:

First I got my Amex Gold in early this year and cancelled about a month later when points were posted in my account (in April). Waited about 5 months and my second Amex Gold approved and I also got the 25k points with FYF (October). I called to call center and they never mentioned as same as your case. It sounds like I can't play this game not anymore.

AMEX Phone reps don't really know what they are talking about in a lot of cases... they could be right, but they could also be wrong...

Can you clarify how Amex 'warned' you?

Were you trying to apply through phone?
Or did you sign up on the web, and they proactively called you?
Or did you sign up on the web, and you called in to check on your status, and they warned you?

So RBC officially lowered the BA signup bonus back to a ridiculously-low 15k (enough for only 1 RT YYZ-NYC as of Feb 2nd)

However, a while ago I received an email from BA offering the additional 15k after $5k spend - so 30k - which is far more reasonable. They sent it out while the 30k offer was public, however they did not include an expiry date on the offer. I just pulled up the email and the link still works. The only thing is RBC doesn't show the offer on the application page so I don't know if it would actually work, or if it would just give me the public 15k offer.

Here are the terms from the offer:

To receive the 15,000 Avios welcome bonus, your application form must be received and approved by Royal Bank of Canada. Please allow up to 10 weeks after receipt of your card for the 15,000 Avios to be posted to you British Airways Executive Club account. If you are not currently a member of the Executive Club, you will be enrolled automatically once you are approved for the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite card. Please note that the address your Executive Club account membership is registered under must match the one for your RBC British Airways Visa Infinite account at all times for the Avios to be posted to your Executive Club account. The additional 15,000 Avios bonus is only available through this limited-time email and will be awarded to you if a total of $5,000 or more in qualifying purchases and pre-authorised bill payment transactions is posted to your RBC British Airways Visa Infinite account within the first 2 full monthly statement periods (approximately 2 months from the date your account is activated), provided your credit card account is in good standing at the time you reach $5,000 in qualifying transactions. Qualifying transactions exclude cash advances (RBC Royal Bank credit card cheques, balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorised charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees. The 15,000 bonus Avios will be credited to your Executive Club account within 10 to 15 weeks after meeting the spending requirement.
It says "limited time" but there are no dates specified.

I compared the URL of the targeted application page to that of the public offer, and they are very different. So it does not simply redirect.

I would rather not share the link publicly but if someone want to be the guinea pig PM me and I will give you the link to try

Is it possible to get the GCR bonus for the Alaska Airlines MC multiple times?

Was calling in to cancel my Gold Business card and express interest in the Gold Personal. Agent said she didn't want me to incur a credit inquiry while not get bonus! Very nice of her:)

In other disappointing AMEX Canada news today:
1) AMEX Canada not part of Aeroplan's transfer bonus announced today.
2) AMEX Canada not part of Ethiad's transfer bonus announced yesterday while many (nearly all?) other AMEX countries get to play: http://www.etihadguest.com/en/earn-m...inancial/amex/

RTLS Nov 16, 2015 4:41 pm

Disappointing news for RBC avion users

Twice a year andf or many years, 50% transfer bonuses to Avios have been offered by RBC avion.

Today a new statement shows an offer until Dec. 15 but for a 30% bonus only.

With the devaluation of BA Avios points, things are not looking good for CC collectors.

Is that confirmed or just an error on the Etihad website? Your link is for all point transfers, not just the 25% bonus. The Canadian AMEX website still has Etihad as a 4:3 transfer partner.

I would guess that Canadian Amex does work for this promotion

You can redeem for American Airlines flights and a bunch of other partners. Etihad is not part of an alliance but have individual alliances with a good variety of partners throughout the big 3 alliances.

And redeeming on partners seems to be way better than redeeming on Etihad flights themselves

The question of whether or not transfers from Amex Canada qualify for the 25% bonus has been definitively answered: They replied to an inquiry by rewardscanada.ca and the Etihad webpage has been updated to include Canada.
Apartments here i come!! :)

I truly hope you can find space. After the AA deval earlier this week, I checked F availability on one route, DFW-AUH. Not one day available through 10/16. Admittedly, it's only one route, but prior to the deval, there were lots of F suites on that route. I hope you can find what you want! I flew apartments, AUH-LHR in May. It was fun, for sure!

Chase had post some info about the Sears MC moving over to Scotiabank:

https://www.chase.com/online/canada/scotiabank-main.htm

I read thru it quickly and can't find whether they will continue "no fx" feature on the card. But it does look like they will discontinue the Sears Card and the Sears Voyage MC, the only card they are keeping is the Sears MC.

I haven't applied the Rogers MC that was mentioned by Toronto1970 on post #2648. I am just waiting for an email from Rogers asking me to apply (which usually lead to some additional bonus :))

alc,

I received something in the email or postal mail, about a month ago. I don't think there was any special bonus offer other than something like $30 welcome bonus, but I wasn't interested in the card so I ignored it. I do recall though that it said I was pre-approved to get the card, so at least it would save a credit pull. But, these days that just means it's saving me 1 or 2 points in the ding-o-meter. :p Plus, it just means another card to heap on the pile, and I think you have to setup your Rogers bill as a PAD to get the fees waived. Incentive was too small for me, so I blinked and looked elsewhere.

Thanks, just applied for the aerogold infinite. No immediate approval though, just says either will receive welcome package in 3 weeks or contact from an agent.

I think it's structured that way. I got a non-message saying I'd hear back from them in 3 weeks or in 2 days by email (if I gave them my email address, which I did). I think they are doing it that way because they want to try and sell something else to you. After applying for my CIBC biz card, someone called me and asked if I wanted to open a chequing account. And for this app, they asked for information on who had my mortgage, who I bank with. SO they're preparing the old cross-sell.

One thing of note, if you've browsed CIBC before you may not see this deal. Try a private windows, deleting your cookies or incognito mode on Chrome.

I was in a TD branch a few days ago and the tv screens showed the AP Infinite 25k welcome bonus. I didn't have time to ask them about it. Maybe this offer is still alive in-branch?

Quick question needing some member feedback.

I need to buy AA miles by end of week, the 200k miles sells at USD$4180. I have already place F award on hold so this should be worth it. Now, I'm debating what card to use to buy it. The currency is about CAD$5580

I have Marriott VISA so that gives 11520 Marriott points (Edit: I think the chase card will consider this as airline too, so 2x points)
I also have Amazon VISA with 1% cashback, so that's CAD$55.8 rebate

Alternatively, AA.com mile purchase is considered as airline purchase so AMEX Gold card will give 2x miles, but AMEX has a 2.5% conversion fee. The total will then be CAD$5760.

So for CAD$180 extra I can get 11520 Aeroplan miles or BA Avios or 5760 SPG points.

Thoughts on what the best method to buy?

Just saying, but I wouldnt consider paying 5500CAD to buy miles for an F award a good deal by ANY stretch. You're paying a LOT and if you paid for the ticket itself you'd also get miles and status. Keep that in mind.

Where exactly are you going to get F tickets for under 5k CAD? Some examples please

Most F cash tickets I can see are 8k CAD, to 15k CAD. No amount of earned miles will pay for that. The cheaper tickets at 8k roundtrip are already ex-Dub and ex-Cairo
