Can you pay YQ charges on Aeroplan reward flights with the Capital One Aspire Travel Purchase Eraser credit?

I think so, but I haven't actually tried it as I charged my recent few rewards to TD Aeroplan card for the Trip insurance stuff (which I'm sure Cap1 will NOT cover, where TD is more likely, even if I am not 100% certain)

I was just alerted on RFD that the Amex Costco cards are no longer available for application. Confirmed this on the Amex Canada website.

That is interesting. This is the second credit card that was discontinued by American Express Canada in 2014. The first being the American Express ChoicePlus Card.

I hope they have some good promotions or new products coming up soon.

Weird, I still see it http://www.americanexpress.com/canad...-trueearnings/. Wonder what happens to current cardholders?

Signup bonuses are pretty low with AMEX these days. The calm before the storm :S

Most likely in your cache. Try going into cards directly from the Amex Canada page. No need to sign in.

That information is left there for existing cardholders. Because people still have the credit card. Chances are existing cardholders will be allowed to continue to keep the credit card.

AMEX stopped taking new applications.

Anybody know if AMEX Canada Sheraton card ever goes on promotion? higher points and FY Fee waived?

Just moved to Canada after 6 years in US and finding it difficult to compare.

I think it has been 2+ years since they had a FYF and 20000 pt sign up bonus.

I am one of many who are waiting for either a bump in bonus or a FYF to get this card!

Surely you mean the SPG AMEX, right? ;)

Until a few months ago there was a 21K bonus for new signups referred by an existing member, but you still had to pay the annual fee. The other offer in the past was 10K signup FYF.

Get used to it, we don't have the insane signup bonuses like they do down south, nor the opportunities to generates miles on the cheap.

Here's the thread on the American Express SPG Canadian version: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...ee-waived.html

I've been waiting for the fee to be waived for a while now too. I was really hoping to get this credit card soon.

SPG is the only card I've paid for since whenever my last Aerogold fee was paid maybe 3 years ago or so. I did just that, referred my wife for one too. So for $240 and a bit of spending, we now have about 60,000 SPG points which should be good for a week's stay in HKG next year. Decent value.

I used mine for 5 nights in Sydney over new year, which would have cost $5000!

Delta Skymiles Canada ?

Does anyone know if the Canadian version of the Delta Skymiles shopping portal still exists ? None of the links I have from a couple of years back seem to work.

Or can you suggest a shopping portal where I can earn miles / points for purchases from Homedepot.CA .

Thanks very much.

I am feeling that way because of no transfer bonus yet this year. :td:

Same here. I am really hoping to see something soon. AMEX seems to be much more quiet this year compared to 2013.

Just FYI looks like this deal is still available through GCR.
One of the best non-Amex deals out there currently.

That's a pretty high spend in a short time for 30k Avios, especially since the annual fee isn't waived. I'll probably pass on this one, but I can see how some people might go for it if they are desperate enough.

I applied to the Capital One Skymiles Gold card and got rejected. I read afterwards that they're pretty picky about not having applied to any cards in the last 3 months.

I tried calling them for reconsideration. I read that "CapitalOne doesn't like to empower their lower CS tiers", and the poster recommend trying the executive office. When I called the numbers suggested it led me to the American office. CapitalOne would then transfer me to a low level person in the Canadian office, who kept telling me to reapply in a couple of weeks.

Anyone have any luck getting reconsideration for Capital One in Canada? What number did you call/who did you email?

Thanks.

Capital One is horrible for applications. Wife was accepted for an IHG and even after she recieved the card they continued to ask her questions about her credit history, apps and which CC's she currently has....

Cruban Jul 30, 2014 6:50 am

Go figure.....I got rejected a few weeks ago by Chase Canada for the Marriott visa due to too many apps in the last 3 months but got approved for the Cap One World Aspire a few days ago instantly.

Cerenity Jul 30, 2014 2:58 pm

while we're on this topic about apps, does MBNA look at last 3 months like C1? or more relaxed?

JJonahJ Jul 30, 2014 3:50 pm

Way, WAYYY more RELAXED. Have applied for so many/several (shhhh) new MBNA cards in 18 months...plus throw in a mixture of concurrent apps for the various churns for Amex, CIBC, Chase and TD cards. Or, maybe I was just lucky with the draw. ;)

Cerenity Jul 30, 2014 4:14 pm

awesome. thanks!
C1 and Chase seem to be the main sticklers...

Agreed. Avoid Shop.ca like the plague.

I finally found a decent deal on that website... it was ink cartridges for my printer... but any advantage to using shop.ca was lost when the Purolator guy drove away just as my wife got home, which meant a longass drive to the airport to get $30 worth of printer ink from the Purolator depot

The experience reminded me why I hate online shopping

CIBC scam

Just a heads up to all thinking the Tims $400 offer is a good one....I went to a branch, applied for the products, did the direct deposit and was then denied for the Credit Card via mail! I am retired with NO debt,No mortgage on 2 homes and have an excellent credit rating. I contacted branch, call center and social media. They agreed to look at my application IF I submitted my Record of Assessment from my taxes. I have not been asked for this EVER in the past by any other issuer. I even held a CIBC card up until last Nov. They also said that I should try not to apply for any other credit cards in the future ( just theirs I suppose).I still plan to escalate this. Stay tuned. Classic bait and switch? Not impressed.I find this very intrusive for such a low level card.:td:

for a data point, i saw a kitchen aid food processor on that website for $299.99. I paid $191.70 for the same one on amazon.ca.

fool and his money and so on.

Shall we add the Scotia Momentum VISA Infinite card (http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/0,,86,00.html) to the list? Perhaps take off some of the older information?

If you have bad experiences, I'd say you're not shopping through reputable vendors. 99% of all my online transactions have gone off without a hitch (and I will say I have never used shop.ca). I've had far worse experiences shopping in person.
