It's reported everywhere now, reddit and blogs. 9/25 - 11/25
Rewards Canada: Amex Membership Rewards: 30% Bonus Avios when transferring to British Airways Executive Club

and you can see it on AMEX T&C

It's active, even if it doesn't show up in your account. Last bonus I don't think it ever displayed properly. I get the feeling they're not even bothering to update the website at bonus time anymore...

Go to the Membership Rewards page, Frequent Traveler Participants and click on the BA Avios transfer button. Here, you don't even need to log in:
https://catalogue.membershiprewards....rtners-ba-logo

At the bottom of the page, there is a clickable bar button called "Product Information". Click on it to expand it and you'll see the information about the 30% transfer bonus to Avios.
SPECIAL OFFER From September 25, 2018 until November 25, 2018, your transfer of 1,000 Membership Rewards® points to Avios is equal to 1,300 Avios. For example: • 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,000 1,300 Avios • 30,000 Membership Rewards points = 30,000 39,000 Avios • 50,000 Membership Rewards points = 50,000 65,000 Avios A minimum transfer of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required. Transfer your Membership Rewards points to Avios – the currency of the British Airways Executive Club.

I realize this is redflagdeals-tier, but did anyone else get a $5 off $5 up to $25 for certain in-app or online purchases on their Amex?

https://forums.redflagdeals.com/open...chase-2225614/

My card was targeted but I can't seem to enroll an AU, the error was by invitation only.

my guess is that since the T&C state that it's only valid for the specific card, it's only valid for that card and not the supplementary cards.

I and my wife both got it. Unfortunately, amazon.ca is the only one of the options that I ever use.

Bohemian1 Sep 28, 2018 10:35 am

The T&Cs specify Amex Basic Cards only in Canada.

This offer is only available to Canadian Basic American Express Consumer Cardmembers who have been sent this offer by email. Only the first 50,000 cards to be successfully registered are eligible for this offer.

I believe AA has an e-shopping portal - e.g. buy something for 5 dollars online (whether you actually use it or not is up to you) and extend miles that way.

The alternative way would be transferring Avion points, possibly.

Thank you for sharing the AMEX to BA promo, seemed hidden on amex.ca...Has anyone actually made the BA avios transfer and got the 30% bonus? The miles calculator on the transfer page still shows a 1:1 ratio...

I recently transferred 30,000 MR and got 39,000 Avios. Bonus worked for me!

out of curiosity, how are Canadians using Avios these days?

I find Avios very valuable for short haul flights in Asia, Australia and Europe.

Avios is also the only *oneworld* award program that charges infant in arms at 10% of points + taxes rather than 10% of fare, so it’s MUCH cheaper to book with Avios even for long hauls if you have an infant.

Compare: MLA-LHR-HND is:
- 100,000 Avios + $300 for an adult + 10,000 Avios + $30 for child, so approx 110,000 + 330 = (let’s say you value Avios at 1.2 cents) = $1,650.
- 75,000 AA + $200 for an adult + $550 for child = (assuming 1.5 cpm valuation for AA) = $1,875.

If if you can get Avios with a transfer bonus like now, that improves the math even further.

And of course there are the short haul flights in Europe and in Japan (4,500 avios + $2 for most intra Japan flights except Okinawa).

Having the same issue. Calculator page shows normal transfer rate and promo page just redirects to the general transfer partners page. Perhaps this transfer bonus is targeted?

In the past few years I've used them mainly on Alaska (flights to Hawaii and LA) and in Cathay Pacific (direct flights to NYC).

What's the number of Avios required for YVR-HNL? WS is currently selling tickets for $398 for YVR-HNL return.

CX is 25,000 Avios one way for YVR-JFK right?

Any other good use of Avios in North America? I got a lot that I want to burn.

crimsona Oct 3, 2018 1:09 pm

12.5k one way in economy YVR to JFK, double for premium economy, triple for business, quadruple for first

12.5k one way Bellingham to Maui, or Seattle to any Hawaii airport. If you add on YVR to Seattle, that's another 7.5k each way since Avios is per segment

Ouch. So there's no way to go from YVR-HNL on the cheap with Avios? At a minimum I have to get to Bellingham?

Any other worthy North American redemption?

Thank you.

lsquare Oct 3, 2018 1:48 pm

Since Avios is per segment, I suppose flying direct is the only way to get a good redemption. So after a quick search on BA's website, I guess YVR-ORD,SFO,LAX, and JFK represent the best redemption.

Is YVR-NRT at 25,000 Avios one-way plus tax worth it? I'm guessing it'll be 50,000 Avios return. YVR-HKG is 30,000 Avios+plus one-way.

Anything else?

cennis Oct 3, 2018 1:52 pm

Any YYZ outbound flights? Seems like YYZ-NYC availability is quite scarce

BMO Airmiles World Elite MC offer is back - 3K miles, FYF and companion ticket. My wife already has this card, can I use the same Airmiles # to apply for this card?

turbov6 Oct 7, 2018 10:19 am

Just a quick heads up about two Air Canada promotions.

$50 statement credit offer when booking a flight on aircanada.com and paying with Masterpass. Note you can use any credit card with Masterpass including Amex.

https://www.aircanada.com/content/ai...asterpass.html

Sobeys in Ontario is selling Air Canada gift cards at a 10% discount. Variable reload up to $500. May be helpful for meeting credit card minimum spend requirements. Sobeys accepts Amex also.

I had the card in the past, am I disqualified? Are points credited once spend is met. I don't remember how these were credited in the past.

Is it worth trying to upgrade from a class O ticket (FCO - YYZ) if I do it immediately after purchasing the ticket, 355 days in advance of my travel date? I have relatively few Aeroplan points left, as I figure they're soon going to be of little use, so I don't have the 55,000 required for a Business Class seat back from Rome, and I can't get a Premium Economy seat with points anyway, so I'll be paying cash for the ticket. Should I spend my remaining points on toasters, or is an upgrade actually a possibility?

Probably best to ask this over on the Air Canada Aeroplan Forum. Lot's of helpful advice there.

I just transferresd 75k MR from amex to avos and got 22k bonus. It took 2 days. On the front page in the promo banner it says transfer for 30% bonus but nowhere during the transfer process did it ever say bonus. It just said 75k = 75k. I just had to wait until my balance changed and saw 75k + bonus deposit at once.
Great value for hopping around NZ and Australia and within europe

Is it safe to transfer my AMEX MR to a family member's AVIOS account, with the same address?

The beauty of BA avios is that you can hold a household account. See this link here: https://www.britishairways.com/en-ca...e-whole-family.
