Yeah, and this mixup is preventing ANY points from posting, and I'd like to book some 10K room awards for next month. I hope it gets sorted out soon! They guy on the phone said the first 20K (that appeared on my statement, but didn't make it to my BW account because of the linking to existing account) should make it over within 5 business days - and it's been double that now. Guess I need to call again..........ugh....
I call again to see where my points are - and get a COMPLETELY different story from Rep#2. He says, "You have to wait until your next statement for the points to transfer". Then I say, "Well, no - because my next statement won't have the points that were transferred into the black hole 3 months ago" and he then says, "Well, then you'll have to call Best Western Rewards". Then I reply, "Umm, and say what? Where's my points? They'll just tell me to call you back because you need to inform them what is going on". The Rep then got extremely argumentative, so I cut it off and asked to speak to a supervisor. Then he goes, "Why? What can they help you with that I am not helping you with?". So then I go into the big song and dance about getting conflicting information, and needing someone to take control of the situation and settle it once and for all. He starts getting super condescending and is still arguing that I don't need to speak to a rep. So I said loudly and firmly, "Please transfer me to a supervisor" and he goes, "Stop shrieking into my ear!" and I sigh and go, "Look, you're being insulting, uncooperative and condescending. Get me to a supervisor, please". He goes, "How am I being condescending?" and I go, "You are because I said so - now transfer me to a supervisor" and he FINALLY does. After close to 10 mins of back and forth. It then takes 2 mins with a supervisor to clear things up. They will contact BW and get all the points sorted out - she agreed that me calling BW would do nothing (why is it that customers always know this and the Reps don't?). Then she gives me 2500 points for all my hassles. Then she gives me her name and direct line. Always pays to speak with the supervisor!!! Let's hope it's all sorted out by my 4th statement next week! |
Question about HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard
In the details on the HSBC site, it states that you get 3 points per $1 spent. I am able to log in to the HSBC rewards site with my existing HSBC credit card and can confirm that Asia Miles (10:8), KrisFlyer (10:9) and Avios (1:1) are transfer partners. Wouldn't the 3 points per dollar be a really good reward? 3 points per 1 dollar! |

the problem with BW card is when apply the BW card MBNA don't haven space for you to input BW rewards number on the application form (but Alaska card does), and MBNA rep is not properly trained for this card, that's where all the problem starts.

Yes, but that is when it should end as well. From previous applications I now call the rep as soon as I activate the card and give them the BW #. Before the statement is cycled I call to confirm the number is on file, and I insist that they say that number for me to confirm. And still there are these issues.
This has been such an ordeal. Even the 2500 points I was offered by the supervisor I spoke to still aren't in my account. Good grief...... |
Looks like Plastiq and Amex are parting ways. Nothing official but since Monday Plastiq is having "issues" with Amex.
Looking on a US credit card churing site it looks like some were really pushing the MS spend. Who knows, either way Plastiq is useless otherwise, 2X MR points was the only reason I used them. |

I called MBNA and they gave me the runaround. They told me they have nothing to do with Best Western and asked me to call Best Western. When I called Best Western, they told me to set up an account. Now, I have a Best Western account number. I will call MBNA to provide this number so future points will be transferred to my Best Western account but what do I do about the 22,000 points already transferred? |

I am a similar issue. On my online MBNA account, it shows that 22,000 points were transferred to Best Western. However, I didn't have a Best Western account so where could have these points gone?

I have been go through these run-around for my first few BW card application, it is very frustrated, As I said MBNA rep will keep told you to call BW which is a total false answer, Mine I go through MBNA website E-mail complain channel and it was finally resolved.

For Scotiabank card, can you switch from American Express® Gold Card to no annual-fee American Express® Card and keep all reward points?
Also, for add secondary card holder, will there be a credit check? Thanks! |

Marriott Rewards MORE
Did anyone get an email about Marriott Rewards MORE? Seems to be similar to ebates, available in Canada and UK (Not sure about US). Has quite a few vendors including Best Buy and Amazon.ca. Amazon is showing 5 points per $ which is pretty good. Haven't had a chance to really look into it but it looks promising.

The points guy has a good story on the program (although this is US featured): https://thepointsguy.com/2017/10/mar...s-more-portal/ I'm already getting this confused with 'More Rewards' - which a Save-On-Foods rewards program for us out in the west... |

Yes I am plat.

Interesting. Are you Marriott plat? You're getting more points in most of those, some are the same. I'm gold.
Very strange... |
I made a purchase at bestbuy.ca via Marriott More app earlier today, it was 1 point per $2 spent, plus bonus points. All points have instantly posted to my Marriott account when I placed the order.
Now I open the app and bestbuy.ca is gone from the list. Amazon now 6x, was 5x. I am Marriott gold. |
Plastiq + AMEX is back ! ^

As reported on various sites, Starwood is running a promo where you save 35% on buying SPG Starpoints when purchasing 5,000 or more, up to 30,000, through December 29. Some talk about if you already purchased the standard 30k max this year, you may still purchase up to 10k with this promo.
FAQ states there's bonus points when paying with SPG Amex... does that include the Canadian ones? If it does, with no tax, but bills in USD so tack on the 2.5% foreign currency fee, buying the max 30k, I think it works out to ~2.8c/pt CAD. Not bad, not a slam dunk though. |
This just in:
Convert points from hotel loyalty programs to Aeroplan and get 30% more miles by Dec. 11, 2017. https://www.aeroplan.com/Fall2017Con...entLanguage=en Note that the last conversion bonus in the Summer was 35%. |

Double Avios for purchases on your RBC BA Visa credit card Nov/Dec '17
"You can collect double Avios on any purchases you make with your RBC British Airways Visa Infinite card this November. That's 2 Avios for every $1 CAD spent on qualifying net purchases and 4 Avios for every $1 CAD when you shop with British Airways and British Airways Holidays."
I had a terrible problem with this same deal last year. The advertising clearly stated that the double Avios were on purchases made with your card between Nov 1 and Nov 31. But that wasn't true. My statement period ends on the 21st of every month. I had a lot of purchases to make for a new house so i made sure to wait for November to make them. I didn't get the bonus avios on my november statement but i did on my december statement. problem was that i only used the card for the last week of november because i prefer to use my normal RBC Avion card and transfer to BA when there's a bonus. much more lucrative. i finally did get the avios. in fact, i got quite a few more than they should have given me because the people who work for these programs have the IQ of mayonnaise. This year they have explained the terms better which is what i told them to do last year. "Offer is valid on qualifying net purchases posted to your December 2017 statement of your RBC British Airways Visa Infinite card provided your account is in good standing. Offer begins at your statement start date in November (anywhere between November 3 and 27 depending on your billing cycle) and runs for a 30 day period thereafter ("Qualifying Period")." much clearer this time. |

Not necessarily. For one, we don't know if and when there will be another transfer bonus, and two, we don't know how much the bonus will be. in any case, the most i've seen it is 50% which means 1.85 Avios per CAD. This bonus is for 2 Avios per CAD. Not a huge difference but a difference none the less.

I'd much rather earn even a 25% transfer bonus on my hefty 25,000 sign-up bonus I recently got with my RBC Avion. I don't recall a time they didn't have the transfer bonus at least twice (or more) per year...
but honestly, this is all moot since BAEC is going down the drain. I think next years changes to "dynamic award pricing" will be the final nail in the coffin. |

i realize now that you're talking about having one card or the other, right? i have both and can switch between them for offers like this. my initial sign-up bonus was spent years ago! in any case, i tend to use my amex plat as primary card since it earns 1.25 MR per CAD and they have bonuses on BAEC transfers as well.
