It's $190 for $200 in GC (so 5% off), a free $25 price privilege card (5 cents off for 500 L), and 7x (so total 1330) Aeroplan miles for dDiamond members (and 6x for dBlack)

Yes, but the e store deal is over as of yesterday
|
In regards to the RBC Avios card when do all the bonus miles post? I just got my spend miles and 15K. I spent over the $9K requirement.
Figures the day after I get my statement I get the * to the distance award chart that gets chopped when it doesn't work in their favor. They all suck. |
And now Starwood will possibly be bought out by Hyatt... bye bye lower redemption rates
|
I already had an older RBC BA card but couldn't pass up the 50k offer so I now have 2... Does anyone have experience holding 2 of the same RBC card? I just don't want to spend 9k on the card only to find out I won't be getting any bonus. I guess if the 15k shows on the first statement then I can assume the other 35k will come too, right?

Also...RBC lets you hold 2 of the same card? This is news to me. Interesting news. |

If the card has a different number, it should show up as a second account in your list of accounts when you log into online banking. Charges should show up on that one and therefore could towards your bonus.

You could try saying that's how you got there. Option 2. You could say you found it on a Flyertalk forum. Option 3. Try a different browser. Myself, I finally borrowed someone's Mac, and used a browser that hadn't been configured to reject embedded Adobe components, as TD's website requires. P.S.: That worked great. Option 4. Try calling back anyway. I have issues with TD customer staff all the time. As is detailed in this forum, their staff aren't very knowledgeable or trained, and are quick to reject when they don't know how to do something. Your luck might get better with the next CSR. |
did tell them flyer talk , they told me 3 diff links for this offer ,flyer talk wasn't one of them lol,i had same problem as u trying online ,I tried laptop with windows and apple ipad , still had same problem with adobe reader ,that was only reason I called up .

I agree that it is rediculous that they don't have a recon line

Does anyone know if CIBC has a reconsideration line?

I never realized this, but the code CXUBCAL gives you 5% off routes YYZ/YVR-PEK/Shanghai/HKG with Cathay.
It's from the partnership with CX and UBC but the code is available for everyone to use. Not much, but a little? Works for Y/PE/J (it's 5% off for Y, I didnt bother checkig PE/J) |

Wait, how'd you hear of this? I go to UBC, and I was unaware of this!
https://www.alumni.ubc.ca/2015/benef...athay-pacific/ Clicking through I just looked at a sample date that ended up being 1215.- CAD with discount and 1275 without, which is approximately 5%. Not much, but it's something lol. Edit: another (small) benefit: the promo fare allows 50CAD flight change fees, while the regular lowest economy fare on Cathay costs 100CAD. Small thing. Also books into V class, same as discount Y and has the same mileage accrual. |
Tsk tsk, should've kept that information away from the public.
|
you can get a 10% discount through AMEX Plat for cx

Starting November 1st, ICBC will NO LONGER be accepting credit card to pre-pay car insurance. Goodbye easy monthly points :( I just prepaid for a year with card... For the last time :( |

Monthly points? You mean annual? How exactly do you pay insurance then?
|
that rep did said done within the month will be one pull only, but I don't believe in him, plus what's the difference for do it again for duplicate application? they just need someone in recon line to overwrite it, Canada CC business is way behind US:mad:

It won't be an additional pull if done within the same day. Even if they do one, it will be merged by the CB.

I pay my insurance month-by-month by CC normally. But because we won't be able to pay with CC anymore starting November first I just pre-paid for the year this time.

I called RBC last night to complain about the BA devaluation of short-haul rewards just two weeks into me having the card. They were understanding, but didn't offer any compensation (which I get, since they don't control BA). They said that I could convert to a RBC rewards card just to keep the balance I obtained, get a pro rata refund (about $150) and get the 15k Avios just for signing up the card. So it's not a total loss. I just didn't want to feel the need to spend $9k on this card for points that are now a lot less useful for me (would rather spend that on SPG or regular Avion).
Just a fyi if others are kicking themselves for getting this card. |
I've already spent the 9K 1st statement and it looks like the 35,000 bonus miles will be dribbled out over the next few months.
Maybe next years bonus will be 65k to make up the shaft we all got? At least I didn't transfer a MR dime over with the recent 1.25X. |
Honestly, the BA short haul devaluation isnt THAT big of a deal to me personally - it just sets a really bad precedent. Instead of being a distance-based chart it's now a "distance-based except if we feel like it" chart. What's stopping them for arbitrarily increasing other values, such as BOS-DUB? Or all trans-ocean? From YVR, the only routes affected are YVR-SEA and YVR-PDX. To Seattle I can drive and YVR-PDX is cheap anyway and doesnt reslly have to be used for positioning hardly ever

I believe some of South Africa is slightly beyond the next zone distance wise from London, but BA gave a discount and prices them in the zone below (I believe 7 to 6?) |

February 2012, they had 10x per $. Trust me, I stocked up on some things I definitely didn't need at the time. Given the value you could get from AP at that time and that the credit card bonuses were less freely available, this was a phenomenal deal!
Congrats! I didn't end up getting anything as I couldn't figure out what I wanted/needed, but of course now that it is over I have a huge list! I am looking at a surface pro and maybe will wait until February to see if anything comes up like a 10/$! That would be amazing! Note to self: make list of things to be purchased through estore@:-) |
Apple usually has black friday promo`s where you get GC`s for hitting a certain spend plus there is always the 5X APestore promos.
|
Just noticed a interesting double dipping opportunity at Sobeys (NB):
I always buy NB Liquor gift card there, since the liquor store is next to the grocery store, thus getting twice the MR points on my Amex Gold. Sadly, you don't get Air Miles for GC purchases. But I was delighted to notice that my $50 purchase allowed me to get 5 Jamie Oliver stamps because of this promotion currently running: http://betterfoodforall.sobeys.com/jamie-oliver-knives/ I was aware from the T&C that Gift Card purchases were not considered grocery purchases, but it seems the system still allow them (my receipt was explicitly showing the 5 stamps earned, and the GC was my only purchase, so definitely not a human error from the cashier). Nothing crazy, yet an excellent surprise — this loophole might be convenient to top up my stamp balance next February. |
