For those not following the Canadian Amex thread, it appears as if Amex Canada has INCREASED their referral bonuses. :) Good news all around.
Personal Gold: Still 25k Business Gold: 30k -> 40k Personal Platinum 50k -> 75k Business Platinum: 40k -> 75k comment/post over here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...da-2016-a.html |
The BizGold was always 40K via referral.

Loving the increased AMEX bonuses!

Nice. A bit annoyed, my wife just got the biz plat w/50k bonus (wasn't 40k via referral). Wonder if she can call in to complain to get a few more out of them, as she has been using the card (too much, I'm afraid).

1. Has anyone tried holding mulitple CIBC aerogold business cards at one time?
2. Has anyone tried downgrading the CIBC aerogold business (to say the bizline)? |

You might be able to match via secure message or calling.
AMEX said NO to both 75K and 25K referral "matching" basically, boo That really sucks (even more for the AMEX Plat applicant) |

Hey Guys,
I was declined a Best Western credit card by MBNA. I currently hold an Alaska Airlines with them (it only has a $1500 credit limit however). When I called, I asked if they could take some credit from my Alaska Airlines (or even close my Alaska card) and approve my Best Western card. The agent seemed angry and said that it was never possible to do that. Am I missing something? |

Am I missing something? But you also have to realize that there are many reasons a card would be declined, and transferring a credit limit would only address one reason. |

I was declined for "having enough credit". |

You can always call back again and see if another agent is more friendly. Several times I've called back twice and the two agents could not have had more contrasting attitudes, and this was with several different financial institutions.

Another question: Which Canadian credit cards are willing to waive the annual fee (2nd year)?
In particular, I would like to keep my MBNA’s Alaska, my Chase’s Marriott and my AMEX’s Gold. |

Cheers, |
folks, is it still possible to refer AMEX SPG cards between husband/wife and get the bonus signup/referral points even if we already have an existing active AMEX SPG card?

Keep in mind AMEX.ca only allows 2 active CREDIT cards so SPG Personal + SPG Business = 2 credit cards if you don't own Air Miles or SimplyCash |

Do you mean to get TWO concurrent Amex SPG cards, each? If that's what you mean, then most likely NO, not normally allowed to have 2 of the same Amex card product, but YMMV. If it's just a case of wondering if YOU can apply, while you're wife already has the same card, then absolutely no issue. Your cards are YOURS, wife's cards are HERS, totally separate and Amex doesn't treat your family as a single entity for their card products. Go ahead and refer her, or she can refer you. |

Thank you, MileageAddict Moderator "Question: Who should be posting in the Manufactured Spending Forum? Answer: All Flyertalk members are welcome and encouraged to post any and all strategies, ideas and promotions pertaining to earning airline miles or points through strategic spending. " "strategic spending" as a strategy has nothing to do with whether or not credit cards award repeat bonuses (churning) |

That sucks. I wonder how THAT happened? I know the rep was a real -insert expletive- but it took over a month to get approved. Odd but happy. |
RBC has a new 50,000 Avios card offer. I just cancelled my card from last fall a few weeks back. Think I could get a new card and bonus offer? I did read this in the T&C...
This offer is only available to new RBC British Airways Visa Infinite cardholders |

Has anyone used the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite benefits with Air Canada? I am aware that you get one free checked baggage, priority check-in and priority boarding but how we actually obtain the benefits? Do we simply show the TD card at check-in and boarding? Or do we have to pre-arrange somehow and get a voucher? I ask because I’m pretty sure the agent at the gate doesn’t care if you’re holding a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card.

I've used these benefits a few times now. Just show your TD Aeroplan Visa at the check-in counter (don't need to show at the gate) and you should get your free baggage and priority boarding no problem. Priority boarding is zone 2 I believe and it's printed on your boarding pass.

I currently have the AMEX SPG Business and I am planning to apply for the Platinum Business in June. Will having the AMEX SPG Business and Gold Business prevent me from getting approved for Platinum Business? |
