CIBC Aerogold Visa Card for Business (FYF till Apr 30th, 2016, 25,000 Aeroplan)?

I got approved, and now the first statement came and I was charged $180 for the AF. I called to have it reversed, but they said they never had the promotion (of course the website now doesn't show the FYF info). I forgot to save a screenshot of the page!

Thank you!

RFD has the screenshot

CIBC's offer, introduced at the start of April, for $300 cash for opening a new chequing account, seems worthwhile enough.
https://www.cibc.com/en/special-offers/cibc-smart.html
Need to keep the account open for 12-13 months, and pay a service fee of $4.95 per month most months, but that should net out to over $200.

I'd appreciate feedback.

Anyone know ways a Canadian can get 250 measly AA miles?
Buying 1000miles is $64USD lol

You could try some of the services that offer Aadvantage miles.
Here's the website:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...ining/main.jsp.
DON'T shop at the AAdvantage eShopping Mall, which only rewards US customers. The other stores don't mention exclusions in the terms & conditions the way the AAdvantage eShopping Mall does.

If you have a family member / friend in the US, send a small gift.
A $20 gift (+ shipping...) at Personal Creations appears to generate 400 miles.

I haven't tried this myself.

How do you join e-rewards? I don't see a sign-up area.

Do you have an RBC account with RBC rewards points? They transfer to AA.

Finally got the full sign-up bonus for MBNA Best Western

It took a couple of months, and a half-dozen emails and phone calls with MBNA/TD customer services, but I finally got the full 40,000 bonus miles posted to my Best Western Rewards account. It was almost not worth the effort, but I saved over $250 on a one night room booking at the BW Plaza near HNL during the Christmas holidays, so I'm satisfied.

spark787 Apr 30, 2016 2:52 pm

Thanks guys I used e-rewards for 250 miles. Not sure how long it'll take to post.

You can sign up here FYI. https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...l-business.jsp

I think BW points are always great to have in your back pocket. I saved mine over the course of 3-4 years and had nearly 100K from two BW MC churns. That paid for 3 nights at a brand new NYC BW and saved me close to $1500 US. I'd say that was well worth going through that hassle twice for me!

I recommend e-Rewards ONLY if you just need some account activity.

In terms of value for time spent,
it doesn't make sense to spend time completing these e-Rewards surveys.

I do them while I watch TV. They take no thought.

Exactly! I've gotten about 10K AA points a year... BTW you get more opportunities if you put a US address ;)
And I also have a e-miles account for Alaska Airlines too!

I'm on track for 20,000 Alaska miles/yr with e-rewards

Nope, sorry.
NOT open to Canadians.

"Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years of age"

I've been doing this for several years and only get 1/2 that amount. Are you using a US address or is it simply that you're a different demographic??

Likely a demographics thing. The most specific surveys give many more points/dollars, easily above 1$/min indicated

Not sure if it's the right place but Aeroplan is collecting (and donating itself) for the Red Cross to help in the Fort McMurray exacuations.

I'm sure lots of us could spare a few miles.

Does United have an equivalent?

Yes, they're actually on e-rewards too. I usually put up around 1,000 MP points a month that way.

My version only offers UA for airline points along with a bunch of hotel chains. I guess I'm using the Canadian version?

For those just starting this ordeal, what is the best contact info for getting to the right person at the start?

heraclitus May 10, 2016 10:49 am

Not sure if this has been noted anywhere else, but MBNA has upped the offer on the BW MC to 60K if you spend $2K within 90 days.

I did receive an email from BW regarding this offer ...
but I think it is for "new" cardholder only ...

Can anyone confirm

ecgz88 May 10, 2016 6:08 pm

Interesting, it says: Limit one-time bonus point offer (no cash value) per new account. ................anyone have churn this card before?:p

Our 8-member churn team just finished another MBNA churn with the AS card. How long short a wait b/w MBNA apps is too short?

is this the best it's been? I've never held the card and it's been half a year since my last MBNA application so I'm definitely interested haha

2k spend is no issue

I think that's as good as it gets.

JJonahJ May 11, 2016 8:45 am

In 2013, MBNA had a promo for 50K BWRs, after $1K spending...and another 10K after another $1K spending. So, in the end, effectively the same, 60K BWRs for $2K spending. So yeah, as good as it's ever been.

It's been a LOOOOONG wait to see them come back with a decent elevated promo. The recent 40K BWRs after first purchase promo was Ok, but I prefer the higher points even though it requires some spending.

grandgourmand May 11, 2016 9:01 am

A good strategy within MBNA might be to apply for this BW card, roll over credit limits from the Alaska card (if you have any) then cancel those and re-apply later. Good to have extra limits with MBNA to help future approvals.

Do purchases made on the supplementary cards count towards the spend requirement?

bmabnorth May 11, 2016 8:59 pm

Is the 40k BW on first spend offer still available - or is that replaced with the new 2k spend requirement?

Just got the RBC Avios card, 2 months to the day I cancelled the last one! Thankfully I have my companies car insurance and accountants bill coming up. More than enough.

Already planning a trip to PNG for next year. Avios for SYD-CNS or BNE return. The Qantas SYD domestic lounge is heaven!!!! Getting to SYD on United J. For a $3000 AC YQ saving I'll take the non-pod option, beside we slept for 10 hours of the 15hr flight from LAX-SYD.
