Yes. Points are simply pushed from MBNA to your Best Western account.
If you start another card later, you can add points to your account again then.

Just got my Aug statement and stated the Rogers card will now start charging FX :(

It will charge 2.5% and you get 1.75% back as reward that mahasamatman mentioned on July 28 here.

Hopefully my connverted Sears card will not follow this

According to their main page, you get 4% cash back on foreign purchases starting 17 August, so there's still a net 1.5% after the 2.5% forex fee.

Thought that was for the new FIDO card only.... and I think those rewards / points are to use for FIDO product/service only.

Nope. See the link yerffej201 provided or https://www.rogersbank.com/en/card_d...num_mastercard.

So for two months, we can get a flat 4% back.

Read the footnote on https://rogersbank.com/en/card_detai...rd?tab=rewards

Or, contact Rogers Bank once per year to receive statement credit for value of rewards earned.
The same footnote appears on the Platinum card's benefits page.

RE: Rogers Credit Card

Thanks everyone. So, might not as bad as I thought then :)

I got my 1st statement and the welcome points weren't there, apart from the points from the actual spend. Is that normal? Do points appear on the second statement?

National a Nightmare

I had to call NB over and over for points, smart traveler redemptions, etc. My anniversary date was coming up and I called to cancel my card. The CS agent told me that I would still have to pay the yearly fee.And argued he did when I told him that I would not. He offered me points not to cancel and said the only way to "avoid messing up my credit if I don't pay" was to get another NB product. I let him ramble on a while and asked for his supervisor. Within minutes he informed me "I will do it for you this time". And then I wrote him up to corporate. Good luck.

I know MBNA has started limited one AS credit card per person, but is that the case with their Best Western card? Or can you hold more than one?

You can still hold more than one.

Lifetime? or concurrently? I'm looking to cancel my existing AS MBNA and am looking to re-apply for another in the fall.

Also if I haven't used my companion fare, would there be a chance to reclaim some of the Annual fee since I didn't redeem that benefit?

ecgz88 Aug 15, 2016 6:40 pm

anyone have a screenshot for TD SMB aeroplan card offer 3 month ago? I applied the card 3 month ago and just got the card today (due to branch rep delay), I remember when I apply it was 20K points+10k for keep 3 mon something like that, but I don't have screenshot to prove, now the offer I saw was 20K points for first use only

Funny man...

I've been reading reports of issues with receiving Amex SPG referral points ie,delays, having to call to claim. Anyone experiencing prob.s?

I'm going out on a limb and saying "not a chance". Did you also get the card via Great Canadian rebates?

Haven't done SPG referral in a while. Probably this fall. Will let you know, but probably on the Amex thread.

Yup, I didn't think it was a possibility, can't hurt to ask though :)

I am being told by a rep at MBNA that such promo never existed
I have a URL and screenshot but no way to provide the rep over the phone

Comment deleted...incorrect info.

kalderlake Aug 18, 2016 7:02 pm

FWIW, a number of people over on RFD are reporting receiving the full 60k.

http://forums.redflagdeals.com/best-...ee-1978927/34/

I've only received the intial 20k, at this point, but the 3 months are not up yet for me.

After a lengthy conversation, 50000 was received. From reading previous posts I see others have also had a problem with this. A suggestion was made to call BW Rewards, but I didn't see any follow up posts as to whether this was successful.

I called BW and they said the points would come in the statement after the check - so I'm assuming if you don't get it by your 4th statement, call in again. They were definitely aware of the promo and said my account was in order and I'd receive them though, so I'm just playing the waiting game still.

Rogers Mastercard now 4% Cashback. Time to start spending like crazy in foreign currencies :)

You're slightly late to the party. That started two days ago (or yesterday from the time of your post).

It also now has a 2.5% FX fee.

"Earn 1.75% cash back rewards on purchases in Canadian dollars and 4% cash back rewards on purchases made in a foreign currency."

So basically, 1.5% cashback if you account for their FX fee, which still isn't too bad.

Can anyone find out where it shows that they are charging 2.5% FX now?

yerffej201 Aug 21, 2016 12:32 am

No, the FX starts Oct 16: https://rogersbank.com/en/platinum_fees

Good to hear that it is working out for you and hopefully for the others who commented about this previously.

Re my comment... It turns out that I mixed up a couple of hotel chains... please disregard what I wrote.

I called them today as well as only 40,000 points have posted. Assuming one has spent the required $2,000 she said the first 20K comes after the first purchase, the second 20k after $1,000 spend and the third 20k comes at the 3 month mark regardelss of when you made the subsequent $1,000 spend. I guess we'll wait and see.

RFD crowd are reporting that if you spend $2K right away, the initial 20K appear at the first statement, and the remaining 40K come in ONE shot, at the second (or 3rd?) statement.

I spent the $2k the first week. The rep said the final 20k posted at the end of the 3 month period in case of returns, etc. I got the 40k after the first statement (last week). I guess I'll see if the remaining 20k post next month or not.

I was told on the phone that first 20k come immediately (after first purchase), rest comes at 3rd statement. I'm still waiting for that, got another month to go, I have the 20k though.

I just received an email from Aeroplan.com. It says "congratulations, you just earned your 5,000 welcome bonus miles."

It looks as the bonus was from the AMEX AeroplanPlus card (The blue one) but I haven't had this for years and had not applied for one. Could it be possible that someone accidentally entered my Aeroplan # during their application?

I just got a similar message for 51,000 points for my Platinum Amex Aeroplus Card that I got the points for over a year ago and cancelled at least half a year ago.

Did the 51,000 miles actually get credited to your Aeroplan account?

Both my husband and I got the email (5,000 for the blue Aeroplan card). Though, I track our points. This error bonus was not awarded to our accounts.
