On the bright side, you can use all those petro points to keep your car sparkling clean with free washes

Seriously, since I transferred one of my CIBC Aero Bizzes to the PetroPoints MC, I don't think I've paid for a car wash since, and that was months and months ago!

I already get 8 free monthly car washes from elsewhere.

Granted, it wasn't that much...but that 250k points could have got me a decent short-haul. Instead of a lame $125 Petro gift card now. Or worse for other gc's.

With no notice?! I have been collecting Petro Points solely for the purpose of transferring to Asia Miles!

Going to switch to Esso only!

We've never even gone to a car wash since we moved to Canada in 2013.

My initial thought to boycott them as well. But hey, Esso is only 1 mile per every $3 spent. Nor do I want any Air Miles from Shell. I personally don't have much use for AC or Star* and their redemption chart requires much more miles than similar itinerary from Asia Miles or Avios. Guess there's really not much choice.

If my math hasn't failed on me, redeeming for Petro's gift card's still give you an effective 2.77% cashback, ontop of whatever credit card you're using.

Wait, is this chart new?? I always thought regular fuel was based on X points per $1 spent. Not based on litres...

go to Esso! You get way more value per $ spent, even comparing their non-promo period vs Petro's promo period.

The only one competitive with Esso is Shell's 10x AM events, but they charge 3 cents more for 91 than others now, so it basically cancels out the AM bonus

Do you remember when was the change? I was always under the impression it was 100 points per $1 spent cause I remember each each cent (or was it dime) made a difference to the "huge" balance number.

No wonder my earn rates for Petro-Points have been so slow the past few years. I just thought it was because I since started using Amex's and haven't charge much to the CIBC Petro Mastercard (used to our primary card).

That's like 0.0025% cash back now

I just received an email from C1. They now have a referral system. Good until May 26

Love your Capital One card? Tell your friends and family members about our Aspire Travel cards and get 5,000 reward miles for each person who applies, up to a maximum of 25,000 miles1 thats $250 in travel! Plus, the person you refer will also get 5,000 miles once their account is opened.

You have a unique referral code in the email and thus expires May 26 ( for me).

Same here, however, since I have the grandfathered Aspire Cash Card, they offered $100 ($50 for the referrer and $50 for the refereed).

Don't know if I can refer to any card such as the basic guaranteed ones.
