Maybe a suggestion for those who can edit the wiki. Would it be nice to have promotion specific sections:
FYF, pay-AF-for-points, RFD/GCR/other referral, minimum spend to obtain
Maybe a google docs kind of file would be useful?
This way people can decide for themselves which current promotions are useful additions to them in their churns/app-o-rama's.

I cover it in my RFD thread (which I added to the Wiki yesterday, but got removed by mahasamatman, not sure why since Wiki has links to other blogs)

Here it is if anyone wants to read it. breakdown of FYF vs. Fee. Minimum spending, Cashback $
I maintain it for public good, I don't earn referral or cashback from it
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/list-...dated-1685293/

I know Mods don't like RFD, but in any case, I don't think many credit card applicants come to Flyertalk for CC advices vs. RFD's #

Thanks for the link. Work like this should be acknowledged. ^

Although, to be fair, it should be in text in this wiki with an emphasis on travel rather then just linking to RFD. RFD≠FT.

Yes, it is double the work to maintain it here and over there, and what use is it if mods take the info away? I can't blame you to not do the effort and post it here in plain text in the wiki, but hope you'll consider!

TD Online Credit Card Application is a Joke

Why does TD bother to have a website for online credit card applications? It hasn't worked for me for 10 months!

sort of worked for us a few weeks ago.

we were able to finish the app and submit it, but it got declined due to a glitch (so they say) but it was easily approved once i called in.

not really sure if the folks having issues are doing something strange, or maybe we are doing something without knowing it, but we've never had any issues completing the TD applications

Same thing here, but since I only put one of my two last names in the application (as I always do) the agent was not able to correct the "glitch".

I need to go the "nearest branch" with two pieces of ID ... and they might ask me income proofs.

Plus, they will kindly make a new application for me at the branch. So, I will loose my GCR rebate and I might get hard pulled twice.... for nothing.

They can **** off.

IF this happened today, just do a new application with both your last names. You'll have 2 checks today, then write to the bureau to contest 1, if you want you say it is TD's web site that triggered both. But that is IF this is TODAY and you do a new app TODAY.

By the way, had similar happen to me last week, completed the application over the phone and the guy on the phone put in the GCR code manually over the phone. Wait and see, but that guy seemed to know his SHT

Thanks a lot, but I didn't have time for fighting them today. Plus, I already made two others applications today (which were approved), so I am scared that if I apply again with TD today, they will process my application tomorrow and they will find out about the other applications (since the credit files are updated overnight), and I will get denied anyway...

And it doesn't mean it will go through because the agent told me the issue was that I "created" a new file with them and I already "have" a file with them (because of a checking account I closed 3 years ago). If I use your trick, I might just end up with a third "file" with them, which won't do much good.

Can't blame you. Bloody Canadian banks & banking system, just like in medieval times we're only vassals to them and treated as such, and frightened from them and the mess correcting them brings we act in vassal style... Amen.

What you say is true. I really see a difference in approach between American banks (MBNA, Chase, AMEX) and Canadian Banks (TD, NBC, BMO).

I just wish MBNA won't get as bureaucratic and messy as TD after their merger...

Actually the credit files are updated almost instantly, assuming you are referring to the credit inquiry. As for the new account, that will only get updated to your file once it reports at the end of the month.

You mean it doesn't work as in the USA? I thought that the purpose of doing all your applications on the same day (each 91 days) was so that the other credit card companies are not aware of your other applications of the day.

The system is not identical to that of the USA. However, in regards to updating the credit file, the inquiries are updated almost instantly in the USA as well. People often misunderstand the purpose of an A-O-R or 2/3/4bm. If you are not applying for multiple cards from the same bank, the only advantage is "good housekeeping". Although no one knows for certain how it all works, there have been claims that doing them at the exact same time from multiple browsers will increase odds of instant approval, there have been many claims against that as well. I can only confirm first hand about the Canadian system.

For example, if you were to apply for 2 cards in one day (Amex and then CIBC) and then a TD card afterward, TD will certainly see your 2 inquiries, as did CIBC after you applied for Amex. They won't know whether you were approved/declined but they will see the pulls just the same as if you were to apply the next day or the next week. However, applying for multiple cards within the same day may have benefit. I cannot confirm but in the US if you apply for multiple Amex cards within the same day it will produce only 1 HP, so there is one purpose of doing applications in the same day. The same works with BofA for the Alaska Airlines card. Perhaps MBNA would act the same way. Credit card companies are more aware than you may have thought.

Z,

Thanks for your info.

Amex pulls from TU, while CIBC + TD yank from EQ. So in your example above, TD would only see the CIBC pull. At least this is what I've seen in mine/wife's reports. For others, both bureaus might get pulled, so it's YMMV for each individual. Nonetheless, good info you've shared. ^

Does anyone know when the 15K Aeroplan from the TD VISA infinite card are supposed to be posted? I know many people have had issues to get them posted, I'm interested in when they are supposed to appear at Aeroplan. Thanks!
