Checked in last night at a Country Inn one hour from home. Used the bathroom, and then made up a story and checked out. 5 mins spent in the room :D. Waiting for the bonus points now.

Agree with an earlier poster, B.

You're redeeming 5,000 more points for saving $12. $12/5000 = $0.0024 per point. :td:

Thanks all. I just did Option B. Also, forgot to write that it is closer to home and I can always go back for the next day for my free breakfast buffet.

Is a Day Use Only rate a qualifying BNG rate?

Can not find anything in the T&C or online that says otherwise, I have a day use rate only for an airport property and I was wondering if this is eligible for the BNG bonus points?

As stated before, if the rate earns points, it qualifies.

Called Club Carlson CS who were unsure, they inturn called the hotel on my behalf who have said that the 'Day Use' rate does not earn points full stop, and is a special property specific rate. Be good to maybe hear otherwie before I cancel, although not looking good.

topcashback

I made some Radission and Park Inn reservations via topcashback.com's 10% cashback link and have finished my stays. However I have not seen any cashback in TCB. FYI i did Best Rate Guarantee claims with Club Carlson. I suspect Best Rate Guarantee with Club Carlson will invalidate topcashback.com's cashback?

also, it seem TCB does not track Park Inn reservation made through their Radisson link at all? so basically no cashback for Park Inn?

anyone can confirm these two observations? thanks.

There is discussion going on in the Club Carlson forum about this issue as well.

According to the TopCasBack Website they are having problems with stays booked between May 31 - June 21. So, if your stay isn't posting, you need to submit a cash back claim.

Here's what it says on their website:
"Bookings completed between May 31 and June 21 may be declined. If your transaction does not uplift once your stay has been completed please accept our apologies and be assured that we are working hard to resolve this matter for valid transactions. If you have experienced this, please do not worry. Simply send us a ticket via your account and we will give you an update."

I don't have any upcoming travel where I'd need to stay at a Club Carlson hotel. I've registered for all 3 promos (and now the newest Park Plaza 50K promo).

My question is: is it worth it to make a reservation and drop by a local hotel, and check in to get some Gold points to use for the future?

What is the most that you would pay at each location to get these points? $100? $200?

I think Club Carlson points are worth about 0.5 cents each. So yes, I think it is worth it to stay at a local hotel if you can for $100 or so. I wouldn't pay $200. Keep in mind that the rules require you to be present for checkout, although I doubt they are really enforcing that rule.

How long is it taking everyone to receive their bonus points from this promotion? It is now 3+ weeks since my stay and no bonus.

Thank you for this push. I went ahead and booked an overnight stay at a local Radisson. Figured me and the lady can take a one day getaway somewhere local on July 3rd - 4th..

After I booked the stay, I did a quick search and found a much cheaper price on hotels.com and submitted a claim for the Radisson BRG. I booked a price at $160.26 and the hotels.com rate was $128.44.

Hope it all goes through. I'll keep y'all updated.

Did you get normal stay points but no 50K or nothing? I have gotten all points ~3 days after checkout on all of my stays.

Within 3-4 days of completing the stay, including the weekends. I received the regular points, such as booking bonus, and stay points, along with the 44k/50k bonus points.

Just a thought, but, did you received at least some of the regular points, did you enter your CC # while making the reservation, was the reservation done before sign up for the bonus points, was the reservation booked directly through CC or the hotel website and not through a third party site (expedia, orbitz, hotels.com, etc), did you stayed at a qualifying hotel, did you sign up and received confirmation email that you sign up and qualify for the promotion?

Your experience seems to be a complete opposite to what almost everyone have mentioned, seems to me there is a "disconnect" with your stay overall. At the very least contact CC customer service to confirm, while the details and information are still fresh and can be accessed easily.

The others that have not received any points are those that stayed on a PARK PLAZA thinking that it qualified for the PARK INN promo. This is mute point now that PARK PLAZA is offering their own promo.

I have not received any points; base or bonus, for my stay at a Rad Blu 2wks ago tomorrow. I contacted CC and they said this is normal, and the points may take some time to post.

Does it count if you stay at more than 1 property in the same city or nearby cities?

metoo Jun 30, 2012 10:05 am

After you check out of the hotel, does the hotel keep a record of your Driver License Detail or copy of it in file? How about your credit card info after the charge has gone through- does the hotel keep a record of it too?

I thought they only scan stuff if you're a foreigner?? They ask for your driver's license just to make sure you are who you say you are. That's all.

highgear Jun 30, 2012 10:32 am

Just an update on my TCB claims not showing up for my 2 country inn stays. I submitted support tickets for these requests and now they show the correct pending cashback with a payable date as unknown.

Depends on what a "foreigner" is.....every hotel I have ever checked in, they always ask for a photo ID

jerry305 Jun 30, 2012 4:05 pm

It's all in the terms & conditions

Yes, all of these promos give Club Carlson points that can be used at any hotel, Radisson, Radisson Blu, Country Inn & Suites, Park Inn, Park Plaza, or Art Hotel.

Park Inn Harrisburg, PA Review

Just completed my stay here and since it's the only Park Inn on the Mid-Atlantic East Coast I imagine I won't be the only FTer staying there in next few weeks.

The Park Inn is actually in Mechanicsburg which is about a 15 minute drive down US 11 from Harrisburg. It's an older very large motel with doors outside (no internal halls). It has a beautiful swimming pool, a minature golf course, and a picnic grounds with long picnic tables. The restaurant "Legends" is affordable and very good.

The rooms are sort of La Quinta quality. You won't be tempted to take home any of the supplied toiletries either. The desk staff is very present but overworked as this is a huge motel. The cleaning staff is friendly and very good. The hotel is pet-friendly (meaning you can sneak a dog in or pay the fee).

Harrisburg is just about 80 miles north of Baltimore, 90 from Philadelphia and 100 from DC, all connected by very good interstates. Downtown is very beautiful and historic with a huge riverfront park and the beautiful state capital. Definitely one of the more beautiful state capital cities. Three waterfront deck cafes on the south shore are the rave. Hersey and Hersey Park are just outside of town. There's a big discount center in Hersey, and the free "Chocolate World" tour on a fun conveyor belt show. Carlisle Fairgrounds, south of the hotel is home to car shows constantly. (Chevy Nationals, Ford Nationals, Corvette Nationals, etc. Most of the guests are visiting those car shows. Gettysburg (!) and Lancaster (Amish country) are both about a half-hour drive away. So is York, home of Harley Davidson and York Barbells and a lot of history.

For those needing Radisson and Country Inns, there are also those in Harrisburg, so a 3-day weekend could hit all three.

The rates at the Park Inn are in the $100 range with gov't rates about $85.

Did you read the terms & conditions? You get 50K Club Carlson points and they can be used the same as all other Club Carlson points in your account.

Just a heads up, when using the BRG, make sure you capture a screen shot of the cheaper price.

I submitted a BRG for rate that was cheaper on June 28th. Today, July 2nd, I still didn't receive an email or phone call about the BRG. I called in and a customer service rep helped me get the match rate with 25% discount... only after I emailed her a screen shot displaying the cheaper price for the same room.

I was pretty annoyed that I had to do this manually instead of getting a match done automatically after filing a claim. Be careful in the future when using BRG.

I agree about getting the screenshot; however here is some food for thought. I did a BRG in May. I booked the room, after seeing the better price on Travelocity, and submitted BRG claim withing10 mins of booking. It took a few days for CC to respond, and in the process (due to the BRG Claim?? maybe) the rate changed on Travelocity, going up. They did match and discount 25%, but off of the new higher rate.

I went back and forth with them providing screenshots of the rate I saw, but it was extremely aggravating and I eventually gave up. Every time I would email, they would ask me to send my proof again in a different way as they could not open the attachment, or it was too large, or place it in the body, or our email system is blocking attachments. Every excuse in the book as to why they could not see my proof was given to me. I began copying other people I knew on the correspondence and CC was the only one "having a problem" with anything I sent. I tried resizing, attachments in different forms, pasting in the body etc……………... Eventually I just gave up over getting the difference because each email I sent took at least 24 hours for them to respond.

So if you have to use your screenshot to prove your stance be prepared for a great big run around. If you are more persistent than I was you will probably win, but prepare for a hassle. You might have better luck if you called, got someone on the phone and had them hold while you tried each method they requested. They might give up first if you keep them on the phone waiting.

stallion114 Jul 4, 2012 11:24 am

Just to confirm before I book.

Can I check in and pay for family members rooms and the points still be earned if the cc doesn't match?

Also can I stay at both a radisson and park inn on the same night and earn both bonuses at the same time?
