Also, CITI usually does not do the adjustments on the signup bonuses.
It's funny because yesterday as I was rereading my post I came up with the same answer. I contacted CITI and added my wife as an authorized user. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to suggest that. Now I have to figure out how to get the card back after we meet the spend.Originally Posted by BAK

I was not aware that CITI would not do the bump. Good info for next time.

Called CITI today to ask about overnighting the cards. Was told that the cards were sent already and I should have them this week. So I will just wait till they show up. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.Originally Posted by AlexSTC
You can always ask to have the card overnighted to you.

Great thinking. It is a good time to meet that min. spend. And I can confirm from experience that Chase has been good about bumps.
If you need some help with meeting your minimum spend come check out my blog - I have a page called RESOURCES and if you scroll down the page you'll come to the "Ways to Meet Minimum Spend" link. You'll love it. It's long and tons of creative ways. Check it out and if you have more questions, just shoot me an email.

If my wife were to get the card she could probably meet the spend in 3 weeks instead of 3 months. I hate shopping and other than filling my car with gas and picking up a gallon of milk, upon request, I never go into a store. If it were up to me I'd still be wearing my bellbottoms from college. Additionally I figured if they did come out with a higher points bonus I could always send a SM asking for the point bump. I applied this morning, was instantly approved and should receive the card within 2 weeks. Now I have to figure out how to meet the spend.
That may be the case with Chase. Citi, however, doesn't usually bump any offer, so don't rely on that.

I got a flyer today from my Citibank in CA.
For Citigold banking members only:
Citi TY Premier 50k pts w/ $2000 spend in 3 months, then additional 10k pts for an additional $10,000 spend in 12 months. It says see a banker to apply with no links.
Not as good as targeted 80k/100k offers, but if you could spend $10k in a year then you could get 60k total bonus with this offer.
I'll look into it further if I don't get a targeted offer in the next few weeks. Just thought I'd pass on the info

Keep in mind that's 50k bonus + 12k spend + 10k ad'l bonus + 12k flight points (if you fly) =84k TY points, plus probably some more for category spends. A very good offer if you can meet the spend easily and do some flying.Originally Posted by bylin2000

Why would any pay $50.00 to add their wifes name to this card the 2nd year...
Would rather wife have her own cad and get the extra points...

As far as having my wife have her own card, this was a targeted offer and she would not be eligible for the bonus points. What would be the difference if she had her own card and accumulated points or they all go on one card?

Not sure I entirely understand your premise. The card is free the first year and there is no charge for the authorized user the first year either. I will not continue to have my wife on the card as an authorized user the 2nd year. In fact, if they don't waive the fee for me, there may not be a second year. Originally Posted by normthe

90,000 ThankYou Points with Citi Premier Card and CitiGold Checking
by The Points Guy on November 16, 2011
Citis Thank You points program isnt the most lucrative points program on the market (my main gripe is that you cannot transfer those points to any airlines or hotels), but the points are still valuable because they can be used to buy any airfare and hotel and they earn miles and elite status. You can also use points for gift cards at 1 points = 1 cent. Signing for for the Premier credit card and CitiGold checking account can net you up to 90,000 ThankYou points enough for $1,197 in airfare/hotels!
The Citi Thank You Premier card offers 50,000 points when you spend $2,500 within 3 months and the $125 annual fee is waived the first year.
Card Details: (Application link)
Earning: 1.2 ThankYou Points for every dollar you spend on purchases at supermarkets, gas stations, drugstores and commuter transportation/parking merchants.
1 ThankYou Point for every dollar you spend on all other purchases.
Redeeming: 1 point = 1.33 cents towards travel, 1 cent towards gift cards
Anniversary bonus: 1-3% of the points youve earned that year
No foreign Transaction fees
Card: You can choose either Visa or Mastercard
So basically, those 50,000 points points can be used to get $500 in gift cards (including Sunoco) or $665 towards airfare plus you earn miles and elite status on any flights/hotels booked with ThankYou Points.
To get an additional 40,000 ThankYou points without getting another inquiry on your credit or worrying about doing the two browser trick, you can open up a CitiGold Checking Account by 12/31/2011 and then enroll the it in Citi ThankYou Rewards. Within 45 days after account opening, complete one direct deposit AND one electronic bill payment for two consecutive months. The minimum opening deposit is $500 and there is a $30 monthly fee unless you have either 1) $50,000 in all linked deposits/retirement accounts 2) $100,000 in all linked accounts including investment accounts 3) $250,000 or more including Citi mortgages.
Best way to get a Citigold without those amounts is through a business account... If you keep a balance of 10K in Preferred Business you get Citigold for free...Originally Posted by normthe
Just found this online. I suppose if this were done with the 80,000 deal you would net 120,000 TYP90,000 ThankYou Points with Citi Premier Card and CitiGold Checking

You now get Thankyou points for just having the Checking account and services rather than by using your Citi Debit Card. I have it set up to feed me 1500 TY points a month just for having a linked Savings account, Direct Deposit and Billpay etc...
Also - with Citigold they waive the annual fee for the AAdvantage Creditcards too (and probably the TY Creditcard too).
With this new system I might start building TY points as previously I was into the AAdvantage from Citi and make the switch to the Creditcard too.
