American Airlines (AA) miles -> Amazon gift card via Points.com
I'm currently an ex-pat (in Europe) that is trying to consolidate or empty my miles and points balances.
I honestly had little need for the 25k AA miles in my balance, since virtually all my travel is business-related. I thought about using the points for something else, but couldn't think of anything.
To make a long story short, I was willing to convert my 25k AA miles into $108 Amazon Gift Card. The website says that they will send a gift card (or gift card information) to the address you list on file.
(Of course, after I clicked 'submit' to complete the online procedure, I started googling about points.com and was willing to see my 25k miles disappear, with nothing in return.)
To my surprise, exactly 3 days after completing the online process, I received the gift card code in the mail!
So although I know that there are some horror stories, here is one success story. Found below is a screen shot of the gift card code email.

Glad you are happy with your transaction. I'm surprised you didn't want to use your points for upgrades on your business flights, but maybe your company books you into the highest cabin anyway?

points.com error - transfer from Amtrak Guest Rewards to Asia Miles
Points.com recently had an error in their exchange rate between AGR and Asia Miles. When I tried to exchange my existing 10K AGR on points.com, the exchange ration showed up as 63750 Asia Miles for 10k AGR.
So, I immediately bought another 10k AGR with the current 30% bonus for $275. Upped my total AGR to 23000 and exchanged for 148K Asia Miles.
Essentially, for $275, I got back ~82k asia miles.
I thought this was a normal ratio of exchange between AGR and Asia Miles. However, points.com corrected the error this morning. Someone made a mistake of putting an extra zero at the end of the number of asia miles.

Be very wary of doing business with points.com as they can request that your FF account be closed with the airline if you dispute a transaction with your CC provider.

In this case I think youre not going to be able to do much. Best case is you might be able to ask that the trade be reversed since points.com made an error. Give how terrible people say they are I'd assume that you never will get the miss-printed value...

Any one else have trouble logging into points.com?
I set up accounts for family members and was able to log in for them initially right without any issue soon after setting up the account, but now I am unable to do so. The password isn't the issue.
But when I try to get the password reset and type in the verification code, it keeps giving me the following error message
Which is silly, since the email addresses have the original welcome email from points.com. Also, if I try to register again with that same email, it can see that the email address in question is already associated with a points.com account.
The odd thing is my own account has no issues.

Sorry, we are not able to validate your email address. Please ensure the email is the same one used to create your Points.com account.

That was NOT an error
I am challenging Points.com on their assertion that they canceled the Amtrak-Asia Miles conversions because of the erroneous rate.
There was no "standard" rate to begin with. Amtrak was the new partner and the rate was there from Day 1. Points.com canceled my first conversion on Dec 10 then they put the same conversion rate back on again, and I did the second conversion of the same # of Amtrak points to CX, at the same rate on Dec 16. A week later they canceled that.
I just filed a complaint with them. If they don't honour the conversion I am going to contact Ontario and the federal consumer protection agencies.
If they don't like the rate, fix it and don't let it happen again. It did and why users, who agreed to supposedly "final" and "non-cancelable" conversions, have to accept their baseless excuse?

That's what happens when you have a monopoly - someone (or even us FTers) could start a counter-points.com to rival it.
