I am challenging Points.com on their assertion that they canceled the Amtrak-Asia Miles conversions because of the erroneous rate.
There was no "standard" rate to begin with. Amtrak was the new partner and the rate was there from Day 1. Points.com canceled my first conversion on Dec 10 then they put the same conversion rate back on again, and I did the second conversion of the same # of Amtrak points to CX, at the same rate on Dec 16. A week later they canceled that.
I just filed a complaint with them. If they don't honour the conversion I am going to contact Ontario and the federal consumer protection agencies.
If they don't like the rate, fix it and don't let it happen again. It did and why users, who agreed to supposedly "final" and "non-cancelable" conversions, have to accept their baseless excuse?

So, I immediately bought another 10k AGR with the current 30% bonus for $275. Upped my total AGR to 23000 and exchanged for 148K Asia Miles.
Essentially, for $275, I got back ~82k asia miles.
I thought this was a normal ratio of exchange between AGR and Asia Miles. However, points.com corrected the error this morning. Someone made a mistake of putting an extra zero at the end of the number of asia miles.
