My departure leg is YVR-SFO (Y), then SFO-NRT (Z) on the same PNR. Will my bag be checked through from YVR to NRT? Or, do I need to claim, then recheck at SFO?

If checked through to NRT, will the agent at YVR apply priority baggage tag?

Yes, your bag will be with you at NRT, no need to recheck at SFO if transit under 24 hours and the priority tag will be applied when check-in at YVR (First Class/Business class/Star Alliance Gold)

With the SYD - HND arriving early and HND - YVR departing late has anyone found a day use hotel that will let you check in early and checkout in the evening?

I chatted with MyStays Hanada and you can check in at noon but are charged an additional 6000 JPY on top of the paid rate. I believe the hotel in HND is the same way if I remember right looking at their FAQ's. I saw the sleep pod hotel in the domestic terminal but traveling with someone that is younger then 15 so not allowed.

Basically looking for a room I can check in around 7:00 am and check out around 7:00 pm without being charged for 2 days. A lounge with sleep rooms would work too.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have status with any hotels?

I've done 8am check-in at Fairmont and Club Carlson properties before, but I always had their top status.

I guess I'm "glad" I arrive HND at 0500 and depart NRT at 1700. It makes a hotel much less useful

The hotel in HND has day rates. You have to phone them to book a time slot as you book it for specific times, not for "the day". It should be about 60% of the nightly rate.

Good idea. Yes I'm Platinum Marriott/SPG but the hotels around HND are $$$ so trying to avoid that if I can help it.

What do you plan on doing with your 12 hour layover?

I've gotten early check-in requests approved at holiday inns without any status or extra cost, probably highly property- and date-specific though.

Well I'm allocating 2-2.5 hours for immigration and getting to NRT. Then I plan to hit up all the *A lounges

Probably find one with a nap pod. Or not, depending on who else is there.

Also got it for my inbound Nov 13. Crappy but still better than economy. At least I'm not getting it on both TPAC sectors like some unfortunate folks.

Also go notification for my Nov2 flight.

​​​​​​I don't feel like doing a transpacific flight in a craddle seat.
I'll probably cancel if they allow me to get full refund.

Same for 14th nov. Looks like that all the flights from YVR are now on the 788 and not just until 28th oct "for maintenance".
