I imagine those affected would be able to change to another routing and the fare difference wouldn't be as substantial.

My flight has also been changed.

I booked through United, but my itinerary there still shows the 789 (though new bookings on United show 788).

Should I wait for the aircraft to update on my PNR (or is that ever going to happen)?

I want to see if United is any more accommodating.

I booked through ANA. Referencing the PNR on ANA's site shows the new aircraft. Referencing the PNR on UA's site shows the previous aircraft (789).

Check your PNR on ANA's site...

I suspect they will be. It's written into their CoC that a change in seating configuration is defined as IRROPs. But with a partner flight, I'm not sure how much play they have in rebooking... but you may be able to get them to route you YVR-SFO-NRT (all on UA, SFO-NRT being new Polaris seats) without much effort.

That is not my question. I know it's a 788 now, but it's going to be hard to argue with United about an equipment swap if their system isn't showing it.

I called United, and they said they could only move me to other NH metal.

When the leg is YVR-HND, that's obviously not possible.

It seems like a strange policy to have.

https://www.united.com/web/en-US/con...le-change.aspx explicitly calls out equipment changes, but isn't clear on how they should be handled.

Just curious, but would they be willing to drop YVR altogether if you 'have to slug it to SFO' in order to just catch the NH flight from there? I've had some pretty good luck changing origin/destination when schedule changes occur; although admittedly not quite like this.

I don't know how that never occurred to me, but I love it, and I'm going to try it. Starting in SFO would save me quite a bit of time and money

But it's barely even a schedule change. It's an equipment change, so I'll probably get some pushback again.

I'll report back within the hour!

Yeah, I only suggested it because SFO is in your profile, and I've done similar for hidden-city tickets in the past where the smallest change would allow them to change the entire construction. Plus the added bonus of being able to upgrade... (ie. check O space before you call to see if SFO/LAX is your best bet should they be accommodating)

I'm on hold again. He said he'd have to reprice it to change it to SFO, and he did, then he noticed what I paid.

But then he said "we can only put you on NH or UA". So now he's seeing about YVR-SFO-NRT.

And after writing that he came back, and said they can't do it for an equipment change on another airline.

For the record, I upgraded my NRT-SFO when it was O0 (I could not book a seat with points, but I could upgrade). I don't think *A upgrades quite come out of the I/O buckets.

Let's hope for a real schedule change then. My SFO-YVR flight on AC had a 5 minute schedule change (same departure, earlier arrival, so clearly no grounds for changes)... maybe NH will too.

If they paid a non-mistake fare price, then they can easily cover any fare difference/change fee.

THANK YOU! I set VS a few weeks ago and probably wouldn't have caught this.

So now where do I credit...

I'll probably now credit to UA.

I'll look into Aegean and SAS but don't fly *A enough to continue to credit points into one of these programs so I'm afraid the points will be orphaned as a result. At least with UA I can add UR's if needed.

Which program did you decide to credit to?

Thanks again
