FareComprare Question
I'm getting pretty good at using ITA and FareCompare, however -
My question is - If I see a fare on FareCompare (WAS-LAX $219 on US currently) how do I see the routing/fare rules associated with it. When I click on it in FareCompare it takes me to a blank page.
I'm looking for something like this,
CO/UA Rules:
Quote:
1. WAS-WAS/PHL/EWR/CLT/CLE-FLL
2. WAS-WAS/PHL/EWR/CLT/CLE-CLT-FLL
3. WAS-CLT-FLL
4. WAS-WAS/PHL/EWR/CLT/CLE-TPA/PNS/PBI/ORL/MIA/JAX/FMY/FLL-
FLL
5. WAS-TPA/PNS/PBI/ORL/MIA/JAX/FMY/FLL-FLL
6. WAS-FLL
I know I can go into ITA and plug in all the different possible routes through US hubs etc. - Seems like a waste if I can get the above rules.
Thanks

I've noticed in a couple of fare rules you've posted something like:
WAS-WAS/PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX
How does that WAS-WAS work? I don't think there are flights between DCA/IAD/BWI are there? I've seen the same thing where LAX-LAX seems to be a possibility. Is it a remnant of when there were flights between co-terminals?
WAS-WAS/PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX

In other words a connection isn't required.

WAS-WAS/PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX
PHL-WAS/PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX
Of course this copy/paste routing rule style gets airlines into trouble sometimes like the DEN-LAX via CLE fare I posted last fall.

WAS-WAS/PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX
The routings available just from that line of text are WAS-LAX, WAS-PHX-LAX, WAS-PHL-LAX, WAS-CLT-LAX, or WAS-BOS-LAX but it doesn't mean WAS-WAS-LAX?
That seems counter intuitive to me. Why wouldn't it just be filed as two different routings?
WAS-PHX/PHL/CLT/BOS-LAX
WAS-LAX
Ahh, and just after posting I read BryanIAH's response regarding the regional divisions. That makes sense if it's just a general string of airports that is added rather than created individually for each fare.
Thanks!

Yeah, the connections are often lumped together as one group. So for a PHL-CLT flight one might see PHL-WAS/PHL/CLT/NYC/BOS-PHL. Likewise, these groups aren't updated regularly, for example, STL is often still listed as a connecting point on many AA itineraries.
