FYI When I checked the United web site, the fares for my preferred dates departing Sept.18 or 19 and returning Oct.7 or 8, actually increased.

it's a new route on UA, so not much to compare to. JFK-IST on Turkish right now is pricing around $1100-1600 rt depending on dates of travel.

No. I reserved 2 on farelock, then had a hell of a time getting UA to issue the tickets! The UA call center in Hawaii came to my rescue, so we are checking out IST after Xmas!

Hm, had no problem purchasing from FareLock on the Inagural 787 DEN-NRT for March 31. Did wait till there were only 15 minutes left, so was sweating a little

Guess I waited a little too long on this one if the fare's gone

Checking OneWorld for this route NYC-IST the best I am seeing fall months is $777ai for an AA/BA connection through LHR.

OKE7F2Q1 21AUG through 21Oct MPM 6022
BF = $ 180 each way with $254 YR RT

There are AA fares to Athens this period for less; and an OJ NYC-ATH/IST-NYC can be had for $626.

Interestingly, NYC-ATH BF = $51 OKX7Q5G1
though YR then jumps to $456
