Around Saturday 8pm, no PreCheck operation. And on the same day by 8:45pm or 9pm they were down to only one x-ray belt/lane open, and then airline crew cut in in-front of passengers at the X-ray belt line when that happens.

The shutting down of the inter-terminal train has been a hassle, more so for those using wheelchairs, those having small children or having to re-check luggage at ORD when traveling on separate tickets. I hope it’s back to regular operation by the posted date next month.

I appreciate the feedback and yes it will for a short while, but at some point over the summer the whole line will be shut down and it will be totally bussing from the remote lots to the terminal core.

Thanks for the info about the situation this coming summer. When the dates are known, it will be usefil
to some of us for sure.

When that interterminal train is working, the Hilton ORD is very conveniently located; but when that service is out, I tend to be better off staying at hotels that have their own shuttle bus dropping off and/or picking up passengers at ORD for T5 trips and perhaps even otherwise.

Leaving tomorrow in J on CX at 2pm, friend is also leaving in the morning on AA so we are sharing transport. Anyone know if I can use my CX BP to enter T3 and use the Flagship business lounge? AA says yes, and it makes sense since there is the T5 bus, but I wonder how the real world works. TIA!

The AA lounges in T3 allow entry in my experience when I have a boarding pass for Oneworld flights from T5.

Update...I was given wrong information....It's going to be a 24 hour shutdown Monday-Friday effective April 9th. The ATS will operate on the weekends.

There's also discussion of having quick connection passengers be routed back through T5 security and then bused back over to the domestic terminals.

Thank you for the update. I really appreciate you keeping us all up-to-date on ORD activity...

Cheers!

What in the world was going on in the T5 passport control area at ORD yesterday? For many US citizens to clear passport control and into the baggage area, last night it took up to 2 (or maybe 2.5) hours after plane doors opened.

i saw live video and the lines were insane, and I was easily able to verify it was taking 60+ minutes very often last night between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

Not sure, but there's a meeting tomorrow with CBP, city and the airlines to find out what was/is going on. Here's a breakdown of this past Monday's operations which also had long lines....Airlines are asking CBP for answers.

1200-1300: 6 arrivals - 1165 pax
1300-1400: 9 arrivals - 1803 pax
1400-1500: 10 arrivals - 1744 pax
1500-1600: 9 arrivals - 1882 pax
1600-1700: 7 arrivals - 1130 pax
1700-1800: 5 arrivals - 859 pax
1800-1900: 10 arrivals - 1958 pax
1900-2000: 8 arrivals - 1113 pax

Totals: 64 arrivals/11,655 Pax

Between the inter-terminal rail shuttle disruptions and the CBP lines at ORD, I currently find ORD to be the worst major US airport of entry. And my suggestion, even for GE members wanting to use GE, is to try to avoid ORD T5 if someone can — unless able and willing to use the 1-stop clearance process at ORD.

Another update on the ATS project...

The ATS Shutdown Effective April 9th will be shut down from 2200lt until 0800lt Mon thru Fri…. This will have a minimal effect on the evening flight connections where other options of rebooking are minimal and require overnight stay.

The 24/5 Shutdown has been postponed until further notice.

A little update for ORD:

For those departing out of Terminal 5 after May, the ticket counters will become common-use. Current airline static signage is currently being replaced with monitors and it will be zonal based A through E with counter positions numbered 1-150.

Also, it looks like the new LH MUC flight that operates 3x weekly (LH436/437) will use T5 for it's departure. Still not sure if it's a T1 checkin then T5 for pax or a T5 checkin directly.

As of May 12th. Spirit Gates will be L5-L11, AS will split between L3 (airbus) and H4 (Boeing) until no later than June 25th, B6 moves from L5 over to L2a.

All gates at ORD outside of the 5 Stinger gates either go Preferential or Common use moving forward.

Thanks for the update. Are there really no gates for the LH flight to use over in Terminal 1? Or is there another reason for having a solo flight out of terminal 5?

Seems to me using Terminal 5 for just one LH flight is going to cause quite a bit of confusion for customers.

If it's just the one flight to MUC, then it's just a matter of directing pax to T5 for LH to MUC and T1 for LH to all other destinations, similar to what they've done for Delta's flight to CDG.
