Consolidated "Connections / Connecting between terminals at ORD" thread

Hi,

how close do you think I'd be cutting it to transfer from a United Express flight that gets in 3:10 PM to an American Airlines international flight that leaves at 5:10 PM (London in business class, if it matters)?

It just makes the minimum connection time, but is this really pushing it?

If I do make this transfer, is the automated train my best bet?

Thanks!

Given where the UX gates have moved to, its plenty of time (so long as you are reasonably on time) and very walkable.

Assuming your flights are on time, this is doable. I would not take the airport train - you will be arriving in terminal 2 and most likely your flight leaves from terminal 3, just follow the signs to terminal 3. You will walk just as far to get to the airport train and then have to wait for a train.

We are supposed to arrive UA at 3:45 pm and catch LH with a 4:15 departure..........
Questions are 1) Will UA tell LH that we are on the flight because of the 2 hour prior check in for international flights?
2) Do you think it is possible since our tickets are PD in Full & NON-REFUNDABLE
3) Might UA put us on a earlier flight if there is room , has anyone tried ?
4) What are the odds of our luggage making on the same flight as us ( our luggage doesn't have legs) ?

ORD: T2 to T1 connecting question

I'm arriving via AC at T2 gate E1 and will be flying (not connecting/separate ticket) out of T1 on UA. Do I need to go out through security and checkin at UA counters in T1, or can I use the inside-security walkway to T1 and checkin at the RCC?

Cheers.

Unfortunately you will have to go through security again in T1.

You CAN go between terminals 1 and 2 without leaving the secure area of the airport, and check in for your second flight at the gate (I did it Saturday).

Thanks dvdexter for the good news, the reported security lines at ORD had me concerned as I have a short time between flights.

Cheers.

Agreed, just stay to the left before the security check-in area in T2, then stay left again at the security check-in in T1

Help with connection at MID Air Tran to Southwest

Being totally unfamiliar with Chicago Midway I am hoping someone can help me with a connection question.
My Air Tran flight arrives in MID at 9:07 am and I connect to Southwest departing at 10:45 am.
Will I have enough time to make this connection ? Will I have to pass through any additional security checks. I plan to have only a carry on.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.
Thank you

I assume that you are not checking luggage, then you will have no issue going between the two airlines at Midway. You will not have to go through security again (at least right now). Due to the construction at Midway, it may be a little confusing getting between gates but it is a small airport.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you ChiFlyer. No we plan on just bringing a carry on. I wasn't sure if we would have to go back to the main ticket area first and then back through security but it seems we will be able to go directly from the AirTran arrival gate to the Southwest departure gate.
Thanks again.

I've spoken to a Souhwest agent on the phone and told her my predicament. She assured me that I should have no trouble making this connection (with just a carry on) as Southwest's policy is to be at the gate 1 hour before departure to get the boarding pass. Whew !
