Thanks for that info, guess that answered my question that people on RCCL won't be able to use the UA flight if they are booking though RC. To your point, there's plenty of other traffic as well but the cruise passengers are definitely a big segment you'd think they wouldn't want to miss out on.

Especially on weekend days, when ship turns are greatest. Even just moving those days' flights back 1 hour would do a lot of good

Ua aircraft

The Ua flights Cle to Mco are 738 and 739's . The F9 321 has 220 passengers
and are much more crowded than any United aircraft. Spirit has a 319 that is also more crowded. Jet Blue to Fll flies the 320 also. Ua 320's all have free
in flight personal device entertainment and Jet Blue has seat back monitors so that is a wash. So what is the problem that is mentioned in the previous post????

Additional UA daily to MCO this winter also. With F9 flying two A321s and NK flying one daily plus DL Saturday service. UA brings in an old A320 for the Florida additions.

What I need is 2016 April's UA1739 MCO-CLE to depart later than 11:01 a.m. because MCO is almost an hour drive from Port Canaveral.

Cleveland's Plain Dealer newspaper has an article about the added service to FL by United here: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index...incart_m-rpt-1

Here's two snips:

No other non-hub that United flies out of has nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Orlando.
And...

[T]he flights are the first time that United has added any new service to Hopkins since it chopped service, so it's definitely a sign that things are stabilizing for the airline in Cleveland.

Cleveland Hopkins June passengers increase by 17 percent vs June of 2014

In June 2015 Cleveland Hopkins had 749,945 total passengers, up 17% from 640,946 passengers in June 2014.
Not bad for a former hub!

Thats because they are flying more mainline on ORD-CLE.

That 17 percent increase is for Hopkins as a whole. United is still down at Hopkins and the increase is largely attributed to the new entrants (Frontier, Spirit, and JetBlue) and possibly additions by other carriers (like Southwest and American's PHX routes.) Most UA reductions were from regional flights while most of the additions by other carriers were on planes with 100+ seats.

I wonder if UA would consider re-adding CLE-PHL? It's a monopoly route by AA now. UA cancelled the route right when it closed it's hub and when Frontier was running CLE-TTN but Frontier didn't commit daily on the route and later cancelled the route.

When US had a monopoly on RDU-PHL after Southwest left, US started charging high fares. DL later added the route. Fares are still high but pax on both ends get to choose DL over AA/US if they want and DL gets to have some of the business not letting it all go to AA/US.

Considering UA still has a FF base in CLE, it could add CLE-PHL, a short flight, and both AA and UA would sell high fares, but UA would get some of that business. It'd seem to fit with the model of short flights to east coast cities, BOS, LGA, EWR and DCA. And unlike ATL which has a lot of competition from NE Ohio airports now, there is none from PHL to CLE.

Not going to happen. Why would UA want to start a non-hub route so they could provide low fare service?? If you don't like the $403 one way CLE-PHL fares, be creative at least on the outbound. Book something beyond PHL (as in CLE-PHL-FLL for $142) and just don't fly the PHL-FLL leg.

Only $142 with a CLE-PHL-FLL ticket...

United is much better with their hub. Fares are more with a layover in IAD/BOS to PHL

I hope you're right and additional service is announced soon. I'm not holding my breath, though.

I'm glad there are direct flights to Florida once again. I'm not a fan of the ultra-low cost carriers like F9 and G4 (out of CAK, CMH, or YNG) that currently are the only options for direct service to southwest Florida.

No, CLE-PHL is not a monopoly. One can fly DL via DTW, JFK, or RDU. One can fly UA via IAD or ORD. One can fly B6 via BOS. It is only a monopoly -- and with US, not AA -- for those few who think that non-stop is worth a substantial premium.
