Because they're aware of you (and/or others) using that source, and decided "we don't want all these LNF stayers, so let's stop giving that site those rates".

I had a similar experience. One hotel, after I booked two LNFs there one right after the other (after first getting an LNF rejection also using the same third party site due to a timing mistake on my part), that third party site for a while stopped showing the rate I used. It came back later, but I woudln't be surprised if Marriott noticed me doing this recurrently and contact the hotel and asked them to suspent offering the rate to the third party site because otherwise they'd be getting a guest endlessly staying for 25% less. :)

(I have need for hotels in the same area over and over and over again, so that's a tricky part for me, using it enough to save money over and over, but not so much or so fast that they shut it off because I'm using it so much. And I'm notel hopping for miles promos that are "per stay", so the rate of LNF requests can be dizzying!)

Change of Dates--June 1-8. Any help would be appreciated. My sister is staying in here time share there and we are all meeting for a family reunion. We would love to stay at the same facility but $324 a night for a week is pretty steep. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I think I used it 5 times in the past 2.5 years; not sure this qualifies for too many concerns on a corporate level. Of course I also used EEOs on top of it ;) I'll see what I can come up with, worst case is just using an EEO.

Oh, well, if only once every half a year on average, lots of other possibilites. First, does the third party you used before exist and list the hotel at all? Among the possibilities I can think of, the third party site went away or changed policies, the hotel's contract with the trirrd party site expired / did not get renewed, the person who worked at the hotel before who set up the third party site rates left and their replacement had no interest in continuing that, etc, etc.

In my case, the (temporary) change happened within a day or two of my second booking. I don't know if it was related or not, but it seemed suspicious.

But you're talking about only one LNF use at this hotel per half a year, and so if you haven't been checking constantly all along, all sorts of scenarios could have happened. I can't being to guess which of them is most likely...

This is in a pretty exclusive neighborhood, and as such a pretty exclusive hotel. They don't even accept AAA rates!

I have no idea if it's possible to get an LNF at such a place, especially this far out. I don't offhand see such an exclusive hotel giving away rooms 3/4 year out at discount rates. At best, if they're undersold close in, maybe then they would?

But you only have to go a few miles to have drastically falling rates, in the SNA area. Right by the airport it's still well over $100 a night, but on the other side of thei aiprort, in Costa Mesa or Santa Ana, there are plenty of hotels (not Marriott's though) that have rates around $100 or even well under $100, including a Best Western Plus, a Holiday Inn Express, etc.

This is not the part of Orange County to look for LNFs in. I only typicaly find LNFs easily in the Anaheim area, not the SNA area (even though I'd prefer the SNA area). The problem is that in the OC, only Fairfields come up on LNFs very regularly, and Marriot doesn't have any Fairfields in the SNA area, only Anaheim and slightly north of it.

What I might suggest is rather than looking for a modest reduction from $324, figure out what the most vital nights of the renunion might be, and book just a few of the nights at $324 there, and book the rest of the nights at a way cheaper hotel a few miles away, and don't think of the $324 price, just think of the average room price for your whole trip. For example, 4 nights at $324 and 4 nights at $87 (typical BW Plus Costa Mesa AAA rates) averages out to $205.50 a night. :)

London 30th Septembet-1st October

One night, 2 guests & 1 child

Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel 175.20 (GBP)
London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch 169.00 (GBP)
London Marriott Hotel Park Lane 183.20 (GBP)

Those rates are the cheapest on Marriott.com (they do not have breakfast and the taxes are not included)

Thanks!

Has anybody ever experienced a lower rate found on a site to "mysteriously" disappear once you've filed a claim?

For the Renaissance Bangkok I found a ~16000 THB rate for Jan 12-15 for which I filed a LNF claim (Marriott rate was ~18000 THB). Upon review by the LNF team the lower rate was set just a tad below the Marriott rate (not enough to warrant a valid claim, service charge difference etc). This struck me as very odd and arbitrary.
