I hope that you won't mind me requesting a look at one of the new Spain properties

AC Baqueira Ski Resort, Spain
09 February for one week
Asking for a 'make me smile' rate at a ski resort during ski season may be a bit cheeky, but just in case you have some ideas. ( Family of 4 )

I have a couple of Marriott PPs but often they are difficult to use with any of the stronger discount rates.

Thanks in advance.

Can someone provide some insight about the LNF rate:

How does it work?

If I go to marriott.com, and see that the rate per night is higher than that on say, a priceline.com, or similar website, can I call Marriott and get them to reduce the rate?

I called reservations and was told that rate matching is only for Marriott to Marriott rates...i.e., if the Marriott.com website is higher then what I would receive if I called the hotel.

Does Marriott "match" prices? Please advise. Thanks!

I am looking for:
11/11/2011 to 11/13/2011 at Marriott Napa Valley Hotel
Current rate: $349, looking for better

No, you don't call, you use the online claim form. Start here, which provides a lot of information:

https://www.marriott.com/hotel-rates/travel.mi

and then when you're read, click on the link for the Online Claim Form.

But it's isn't if you see "a rate" on Marriott.com that's higher than on the other site. The lowest rate available on Marriott.com (that's available to everyone, ie, AAA rates and promo code rates don't count) is the one you have to use.

And it has to be for the same type room, and the terms need to be the same.

If it's, say, a Fairfield where everything is included anyway for everyone on every rate, it's simple: The terms that have to match are simply whether it's advance purchase with no refund, or no advance purchase and fully cancellable (and if fully cancellable, whether it's fully cancellable the same number of days before the stay).

If it's hotel brand where what's included varies with the rate, there may be other complications to check for, to make sure that the perks (free breakfast, free parking, etc) included don't vary between the Marriott (lowest) rate and the (even lower) rate you see on the other site.

Finally, you have to provide enough information for Marriott's LNF staff to verify that the other site rate is what you said it was (and is still bookable by the time they check, which is within 24 hours of you submitting the claim).

If successful, not only does Marriott match the lower rate, they then discount it by 25%.

As sdsearchexplained, please read both the T&Cs & FAQs to improve your chances of success. Plus, there are slight variations on what's accepted as a LNF depending if the hotel is a US property or not.

Also, fwiw in addition to finding a lower price online at another website, you also can submit a claim on "Marriott to Marriott" rates.

For example, if you call a Marriott hotel & book a hotel over the phone (either using the 800 reservation number or calling the hotel directly) and w/i 24 hrs find a lower rate for that same room type & dates on Marriott.com, you can submit an online claim for that as well.

Finally, respecting your request....you have a pm!

Good luck ^

I'm looking for something to beat $319 at the Algonquin in NY for next Saturday (Oct. 29). Sadly, my usual site for getting LNF rates here doesn't have anything better...

See posts 105 through 109. Recently someone got a rate of well under $200 there through an LNF.

Unfortunately, that may be exaclty what caused your search a while later for LNF to fail. My experience is that once someone succeeds at an LNF, it's likely (though not certain) that the hotel will act to remove that rate (from the hird-party site) for a while, at least until "memory fades".

Meanwhile, I see that you're PC Plat. You do realize that there are several NYC hotels which are available starting for as little as 15k PC points a night? (As a PC Plat with lots of points myself, NYC is one place I never both paying money to stay at.)

Yeah, I know - I was the one that got that rate :). And last time I checked, it's still available for the dates I originally booked. However, I wasn't getting anything less for next weekend... until I started playing around with the dates, and realized that the Friday was my problem - putting in just Saturday popped up a better rate (albeit not quite the deal I have for January). So, am using one of my Cat. 1-4 certs for a SHS north of the city (we're driving down from Canada), and doing just the one night at the Algonquin.

I did think of using some of my stash of PC points, but MamaTwick, alas, had her heart set on the Algonquin...
