Just got the e-mail about the mega bonus promotion. They want me to do 20 nights between now and June 1st in order to get 30,000 bonus points.

Count me in ... piece of cake.

You can ask me too :) I'm a Platinum with a high reward balance and the last reward I redeemed was a Pointsaver six month ago, but they were very "accomodating" to me too.

I got the:

MGS5A - Earn 2500 points every stay, starting with 2nd stay up to 10000 pts

which seems to make sense from a marketing perspective. The majority of my stays last year were long term- Lots of nights, but only checked out once a month or so. It makes sense that they'd want me to have more higher cost stays to increase revenue.

Of course this year I've been doing 3-4 nights each week in full service properties, so I'm only so happy to oblige with this promo.

I got the 5K per 3 stays, up to 25K.

Got Platinum last year with lots of short stays so I guess their selection makes sense in my case. Though, I'd prefer the 30K for 20 nights, maybe I should give them a call. I've got a 15-night stay coming up in March so that would be perfect.

I also got the 5K bonus every third stay with a maximum of 25k awarded. I'm silver and most of my stays are only a couple of days. I have not been able to discern any pattern in how Marriott is choosing the promo terms for each member.

I received a card detailing the MegaBonus terms as 2,500 for each stay after the 1st with a max of 10k total when I checked into Marriott Philadelphia West this past weekend. Maybe that is the default terms for the promo?

New members are offered this promotion of "2.5k/stay after first stay, up to to 10k". You can see it when navigating to the enrollment link on the MegaBonus promo page.

Give 'em a call. I was told that Gold members and above can choose their reward. They have to do this manually, though, so you have to follow up at the end of the promo (June) to let them know.

Probably the easiest is to have them send you an e-mail confirming what they've agreed to let you do...always a good policy when someone has agreed to modify a policy in 2-3 months....

They offered me to 20-stays for 30K, probably because I've been 4 nights/week since last July, but I preferred the "3 stays/5K" since the 20 days was all or nothing. The hedge of knowing I'd get "Something" is worth the 5K haircut.

just became a no brainer for me!!

Since I was dropped to Gold this year I was considering dropping the entire MR program. However, I just opened my welcome to Gold Elite membership and saw that I could get Plat back for 18 nights from 3/1 to 6/1. Factor that in with the 15 night/25K promo which I hope to parlay into a 20 night 30K promo and this is a no brainer.. i love the fact that its nights too as opposed to stays.. Marriott in March here I come.. ^

I dont mean to piss on the party but.........

unless MAR reworks the award availability this promotion screws us all.

We are all going to spend money to get the 20 nights and 30k points only to find out that we all have to use anytime awards.

Marriott wins again, and we get more worthless points. :td:

I've booked 12 nights in the past year using MR on the dates I wanted in both London and Cancun without a problem. If you can avoid the major vacation times, I don't think award availability is that difficult to find.

Wow, you go away for a day and look at what happens! Five page thread on new MR bonus must mean the masses were thirsty for a new promo. ;)

Chris & MR folks, you getting this?

I havn't gotten my package yet (dropped to gold in 04). Is that a targeted Promo (getting Platinum back?).

beachfan Feb 24, 2005 1:09 am

Hard to get excited about this promotion. 20k points in Marriott won't give you 2 nights at a Cat 3, you need 28k. For 15 nights at cat4/5/6, I get about 1.5 at cat3. This is only a good deal if you stay at Cat 1s and 2s.
